Title: Does flash at night spook the elk?
Post by: wapiti hunter2 on August 21, 2010, 08:02:06 PM
Does flash at night spook the elk enough to push them out of an area?  I notice that after one or two times of catching elk on my cameras at night (Moultrie D40) they seem to disappear.  I may not see them again on that setup.  I typically move my cameras at least once a month, but typically every 2 weeks.  Familiar elk sometimes show up in different areas but I don't want to be pressuring them unnecessarily with hunting season right around the corner.  Also, do you leave your cameras out during the hunting season?  I am thinking of bringing mine in.

Nice bull there!  All the Elk I get pics of have been comming back since the end of may.  Somtimes they dont stay as long as others but I dont think it bothers them or the deer.

look back at some of my earlier post... over 600 pics in five days, day and night. They could have given a rip about that flash. I have heard that they might just think it is lighting.... who knows
