Post by: runningboard on August 27, 2010, 04:08:40 PM: my son & I drove up to some higher ground the other night & when we started climbing out of the creek bottom towards higher elevations it got warmer the farther we got from the creek/water. this was @ midnight. it has been cooler the past few days but still haven't heard anything. going out again tonight since it really didn't get hot today.

I did see two 6 points feeding together this AM... they got into a little sparring match..and went their separate ways.

Post by: markmc on August 30, 2010, 03:46:18 PM: Spent the past week bear hunting in the Willapa Hills unit... saw a herd of elk with a couple of bulls. They ran down the power lines and disappeared into the woods. I'm not sure if it was a bull or cow but shortly after one of em started hollering. This is my first time to hear them in this area.

Post by: WAcoyotehunter on August 30, 2010, 04:52:36 PM: watched a small herd all spread out across a hillside with one bull. he was pretty quiet even with the cows moving all over the place. I hope they get going by this time next week! We were up pretty high and in some cool weather.

We heard a couple of glunks while walking out in the dark, so JR pulled out his bugle and gave a chuckle. Immediate response. We went back and forth for about 10 minutes. From the sounds of it, we caught him in the act of violating a tree. Lot's of thrashing around. Too dark to see, but he didn't sound very big.
