Hey!  Congrats on making the leap to a recurve.  It is no easy task, but the bow you got should make it easier.  I will need to know a few things before I can really help you out, but ill get it started.

With that bow, you can actually shoot it relatively like a compound.  So here is the first question.  Are you going to shoot naturally, or with a rest and sights?  If you shoot naturally (no sights)  I suggest reading up on instinctual shooting. This is more of a traditional recurve/longbow set up.

Now this is where your bow is different then most recurves.  Generally they don't have sight and rest mounts because they are one solid wood piece.  Yours has a riser, which is actually from the discontinued martin jaguar compound.  SO... You have the option to use a rest and sights.

I would suggest a finger tab, or glove to protect your fingers.  I use a glove with my recurve, but a tab is great too.

Either way, I would probably put a stabilizer on your bow becuase you can.

PS; I shot the martin jaguar compound for 4-5 years before switching over to a traditional wood/fiberglass recurve a few years ago.
If you have any more questions, feel free to shoot me a PM.

get a set of limb savers to put on the limbs it will take the shock out of the bow. glove or tab and some arrows and you will be on your way. be careful it is addicting :chuckle: pretty soon you will be out at night knappin points :chuckle:

I as well just purchased an alluminum riser recurve (PSE Coyote) for some traditional style hunting.  Coyote_killer is one of my hunting pardners and we decided to go down the traditional route together   :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: long live robin hood!

i got a stabilizer but not sure about puting  sights on :dunno:  I really want to explore instinctual shooting. i am going to add limb savers and string silencer's. and i still need to find a glove but i don't like the feel of the hard leather ones i keep finding.

Thanks for all the advice  :hello:

I would highly recommend this glove.  I have tried 4 different gloves and tabs, and this one is by far the best.  Very soft and pliable, yet durable.

If you want to shoot instinctively then I would look up some videos of guys doing that, and do some reading.  Its not that hard, you just gotta have good form, and fling as many arrows as you can to develop a strait accurate shot.

I have the same bow. It's great! All i did with mine though was bought a different string after a hundred or more shots than through on some big puff ball silencers. Hows your set up treating ya?
