Title: Pope and Young Whitetail
Post by: BULLBLASTER on September 02, 2010, 07:38:10 AM: i was able to tag my first pope and young buck last night after passing 4 smaller bucks throughout the evening.
he is a 7x6 and should gross right around 150!

the velvet is pretty toasted. from the death thrash and then dragging the deer out. i am going to look into the artificial sprayed velvet though.

not all that much of a story, i have been after this deer for 2 years and he came in under my tree stand yesterday. i have probably 1000 pictures of this deer on a trail cam, and have watched him numerous times this summer.

Post by: BULLBLASTER on September 02, 2010, 09:48:02 PM: it wasnt that hard to pass the other bucks, they were little. like under 100 inches and this year i told myself it was a book buck or a doe on the last couple days. well i stil have aB tag to fill in the late season when i can let it hang... probly wont even be able to fool a doe after this luck though. lol

this was a unguided hunt in eastern WA.

also, i talked to the taxidermist today when i dropped off the bear i shot yesterday :IBCOOL: and he found a .22 slug just under his left eye, said it looked pretty fresh too.
some *censored* tried to poach him with a .22 and a spotlight we are guessing. :bdid:
pisses me off, and i am going to keep my eyes and ears open around there teh rest of the year.
