This is my first year hunting with a bow, and I was bit by the archery bug big time! What a blast! I got this blacktail out of Bucoda on Sep 2nd, stuck it at 45 yards where it was up hill in a clear cut. It ran over the hill, so my buddy and I snuck around to another spur road thinking he might cross over it and hoping to put another arrow in him. When we were on the spur my buddy saw some blood, the buck already crossed and he was heading down into another clear cut. We had a great blood trail, so we sat back and waited for about 45 mins . We found him 20 yards from that spur road where he crawled into this nasty thicket. I always wanted to get an animal in full velvet, and now I got one.

Great job on sticking your first blacktail. The good news is there is no cure from the bite of the bow bug. Have fun and hunt hard!

Ditto...not the recommended shot placement but in this case you got the job done. Congrats on your first archery blacktail, and a great one at that!
