Title: Looking for a new DAY PACK
Post by: PNWCOONASS on March 17, 2008, 06:44:53 AM
Like it says, I'm looking for a new Day pack.  Need something compact but can still carry some rain gear in it.

Has anyone had any experience with the Badlands 2200 Daypack or the Cabelas Elite scout pack?

they are about the same size, the 2200 is about 100 bucks more.

any suggestion is appriciated... Later

imo... it is the best pack i have ever used. super comfortable and adjustable. very waterproof. well thought out.. worth the money considering their warranty.. not big enough for 3-5 day hunts. buy it

I just picked up a Blacks Creek Alaskan which is a 3000 ci pack. They make some smaller packs that are perfect for day packs. I am very impressed with there quaility. They are very nice. There is a web site www.archery-packs.com that sells them at a great price.

Eberlestock J104 is a great daypack as well.

I'll second that if you're looking for a versatile pack.

Eberlestock J104 is a great daypack as well.

wouldn't that be considered kind of on the big side of a day pack? i have the eberlestock x1 and love it for a day pack at about 2100c.i. the j104 seemed large for a day pack type pack. either way, the quality is definitely there and i'd buy another 1 in a heartbeat...

Pete,

I like the Cabelas pack okay but,,,,I love the kifaru packs.  I have one of there bigger packs and love it.  I am saving for either a spike camp or express with molle webs.  I like the fact that they are overbuilt and expandable.   I think I might have shown you my kifaru once when we were vanpooling, besides I know you need something to do with that FSA/Hostile fire pay you are getting.  have a good cruise.

I bought a Camelpak Stryker version.  It has lasted me 8 years.  I dont use it to haul meat of course, so why spend big bucks for something that carries your lunch, knives, TP, and water.  Not worth it.  Now if your a rifle hunter you could spend some money and buy something that does everything, yet still not to big. Eberlestock makes a good pack, that can hold your rifle, and still pack out meat.

On our Deer & Elk hunts we use the Badlands Superday Pack. If you'd like to see one & it's pockets & functions go to our Site www.elknut.com then click on "Video Clips"  once there you'll see "What's In Your Pack" it's a 10min clip on the Pack & what we use on our hunts! It's aprox. 2000" plenty of room for all your stuff & rain gear. I've taken my tripod & spotting scope along in the pack many times, it's got lots of room! (no I don't sell them) But they are a great Pack!
