No, the land owner gave permission for free. They told me the tag was $12,000 and that it went to some guy who had it the year before. There are so many auction and raffle tags anymore that it is hard to keep up.

How about using a guide, buying a landowner tag or paying an access fee to hunt a piece of private land. That would certainly eliminate a lot of record book animals. There is a lot to be said by taking a trophy on a DIY hunt on public land with an OTC tag. That to me is the ultimate trophy, but it doesn't reduce the significance of other great trophies as long as they were taken legally under "Fair Chase" conditions. I just cannot understand the constant criticism that the "Haves" get from the "Have Nots" when it comes to going on choice, quality hunts that cost $$$ which is theres to spend however they damn well choose. Same attitude is what's dragging this country in the shi*%er. That's my 3 cents!!!
