Title: First archery elk! 6x6!
Post by: Jellymon on September 08, 2010, 02:33:58 PM: Took me EIGHT YEARS!! He was in a clearing with two cows heading toward the timber and just as he was about to enter the woods I made a cow call to stop him. He stopped perfectly broadside at 35yds and I made a perfect double lung shot!! We got a scare trying to find him because the rain was washing away the blood trail, but we found him within 100yds with a little searching. I knew he wouldnt go far with both lungs flat! Whoever said the work begins after you shoot was right, I still hurt! :rockin:

Post by: Jellymon on September 16, 2010, 12:40:03 PM: It was a little ways in and we had a game cart, but the cart didnt help us getting him to the logging road. I shot at about 7:30pm found him at about 8:30 after a little wait, and we were leaving with the final piece in the truck as hunters were rolling in for the next days hunt!
Luckily it was pretty cold so none of the meat spoiled. :)
