We've been noticing the dropped connections when we hit this threshold of 200 members. I have contacted the hosting company and asked them directly for 2 more gigs of ram. From my observations that appears to be the bottleneck. We have plenty of funding in the pot for this. If that is not an option or if it does not remedy the situation we will have to do another server upgrade to something with 4gb of ram 2 processors at 4 cores each or something like that.
However this goes there could be either a little bit of down time to place in some ram in the next few days... or there could be a longer term planned outage coming on the horizon.

way to keep the site top of the line ray! :IBCOOL: pretty cool that there is enough members to have 200 on line at once :yike: :IBCOOL: the record got broke back to back the other day and i think that will continue to happen with a great site like this. thanks for all you hard work to keep this great site running smooth :IBCOOL:

I've asked for 4gb more ram at 13 more dollars a month. Tentatively set to put in at 11PM tonight. They have not committed to that time yet... Expected down time is 1 hour.

It looks like there will be down time tonight between 11:00 and 12:00

It looks like they just finally did the upgrade within the hour. Been over looking at some deer and bighorns. Wife almost got hit by a rattler. Good trip.
-
There was a brief period a short time ago that the site was down I noticed.
-
Yeah I have restarted the sql server a few times to retune in the last 30 minutes as well.

"Wife almost got hit by a rattler. Good trip."
thats funny as hell right there :chuckle: i am sure that was scary :yike:
-
Well... not all the RAM is being recognized by the server (but most is). More scheduled troubleshooting at 11PM tonight. Max - 1 hour.
-
good work Ray hope it works for and us! :IBCOOL:

It looks like the new RAM is helping when we hit the 200 members online bar. I'll continue monitoring but when we need more we'll be forced to upgrade the server.
-
Ok they're going to take the server offline for about 20 minutes any time in the next hour or two.

All right that should be all the tinkering until further notice. It looks to be holding things down just fine so far..
