Title: Plot Hounds and cats
Post by: MountainWalk on March 17, 2008, 11:47:43 PM: i have a pair of male plott hounds and am considering cat hunting with them. i know i gotta get tracking quiipment and such. but how do you train dogs for cats?. they are 3 and 1 1/2. both of them show real interest in the bottled cougar scent stuff.

Post by: Machias on March 18, 2008, 08:05:19 AM: I would suggest you get Tom Solberg's Book "Dog Talk" Excellent book on how to start young dogs. Walk with Wick is another good book. If you can find an experienced pack to run with that is also a great way to start young dogs. WARNING, you will probably get advice about running feral cats, I would advise against it, as it is a felony in this state and really shines a bad light on hound hunters. Good luck, if you get a chance can you post some photos of your plotts.
