Can someone help me please. I bought the boy a Moultrie game camera for Christmas last year. We set up for the first time two weeks ago. Thus far we have pictures of us setting up shop. Two pictures replacing the card after pulling it about a week after set up. Then two more replacing the card again. It seems to be snapping only a couple shots after we put the card in. No pictures of us walking in and no pictures of any game. Something is in the area. Fresh droppings and the feed is being eaten. Any suggestions???

Have you double checked all of your setting's....?

Try testing it. After you get it set up, wait 20 minutes. I found it easier to do it in the dark, as you can then easily tell when it is taking pictures because the flash will go off. This also tests the flash to make sure it is working. I just did the testing in my garage at night with the lights out. I ended up doing a lot of experimeting in learning how to test the Moultries to figure out if they were working correctly, because I bought two used D40's off eBay, and neither one worked. At first, they appeared to work ok. I could turn it to "auto" and let the timer run down, and then walk in front of it and it would take a picture. But I found that if I did the same thing and then waited 20 minutes, and then walked by the camera, it would not take a picture. What happens is they go to "sleep" and never wake up. So if you don't wait the 20 minutes, you'll think it is working fine. I ended up sending the two D40's back to the seller on eBay, and he sent me two others. One of them worked, the other didn't. The bad one is now sitting in my shop collecting dust.
If your camera is defective, I believe the Moultrie warranty is 1 year, so you may be able to get it replaced, or fixed. I have decided any future purchases of trail cameras will be from Cabelas, so that I can easily take one back if necessary and exchange it for one that works. (or get my money back)

You may also need to check the aim on the cam. Perhaps you have it pointed to high to see the animals at ground level :bash:, but when you stick your face in front of it to change cards and such it gets you. On the plus side you should not be going through batteries :chuckle:. Good luck and get it figured out, they are a lot of fun when they are working.

I have checked the settings. Battery's are brand new out of the package. Basically, the problem is it goes into sleep mode when nothing is happening and it never wakes up. I have no experience with these things so I was just wondering if this was normal. I spoke with customer service and they weren't a big help. Sounds like I will end up sending it into them.

Yes, as I said, the ones I bought used did the same thing. After about 20 minutes, the camera would go to sleep and never wake up. The first 20 minutes after I turned it on, it would take pictures fine. After that, I could walk around in front of it all day and it would never wake up and take a picture. Obviously, they're useless if they do that. This is why my next purchase will only be from Cabelas so I can return them if something is wrong.

Well the Moultrie have a good return policy. Contact them and send it back. You shouldn't have a problem returning it.
