Was a okay season for me. I had a few encounters. One with a pack of 5 wolves at 40 yards that came in to my bugling. Man they are big.(second time I've called in wolves in the last 5 years) DANG YOU JUDGE MALLOY for closing my season, I'd have had one of the first archery killed wolves in Idaho.
This bull I had at 48 yards screamin his head off for the last 15 minutes of day light. All I could see what his head and antlers. Then for almost another 20 minutes I had to sit there in the dark while he chased a couple cows around at 40 to 50 yards screaming his head off the whole time. It was a amazing event. I'm going to have many dreams of him skylined in the sunset with them antlers sitting so tall above him.
This is the biggest bull I've ever seen walking in Idaho. His main beams were so long and wide it was unreal watching him. I'm not sure I could have put my hands around the 4ths on this guy. I put him at 340"+. I got a 6x6 that scored 300" a couple years ago and its a dwarf to this guy.
Oh and public land otc tag in Idaho. I'd say he's one of the last few great bulls this state has left. Elk population was definetly down this year as compared to years past. Local cow wrangler lost 13 calves to wolves last year. Hadnt had a count yet this year but after seeing that pack of 5 I can imagine a few more this year also.
My seasons over as I have work commitments the rest of the week but the wife will be going after him with the rifle in a couple weeks. Hopefully that will be her first bull.

another head on.. He stayed in front of my camera for 10 pics. I thought that was pretty nice of him.

Need to name him the Jack-O-Lantern bull.

Great bull! I hunted 3 weeks in Idaho this year and saw 3 diff packs of wolves. :yike: They were all within 35 yards or so too. They are huge. That damn judge in Montana is really misinformed about what is goin on with the wolf population. I also have a trail cam pic of a mostly white wolf im trying to post too.

good looking bull for sure :IBCOOL:

very nice bull, too bad about those damn wolves and that retarded judge. I would give that bull a score around 325ish only because his fronts are a little weak, but beautiful backs. A shooter for sure, go get him.

Just got back from the Gospel Hump Wilderness in Idaho and a guided horseback elk hunt. Last year, from the same camp I got a nice 5 1/2 point bull. This year only one cow and calf were seen and several bugles in different areas were heard but the bulls did not come to any calls or show themselves. We weren't able to find them. It could have been because of the full moon, or because of the warm weather or because we also heard several wolves howling. The people were great anyway.
I heard from several people in the area that because there is no controlled wolf hunt they expect people to start "taking care of the problem themselves." The city people that want to stop the hunt may actually cause more wolves to be killed.

Stud pic! Would be nice to have a fair chance at him!

340" ??
Hard to tell with those brows, but I think I'd put him at 350+, at least from the looks of that pic. He's got fantastic tops...
