I was out scouting today and ran into this owl. It seemed pretty mad that I interupted it. It was not very well lit and the pics came out not to clear but I thought that I would share.
-
I don't think he looks mad at all! LOL Where's the pics woodman?
-
A tired or angry bird. Cool shot.
-
Not angry, great pics.
-
Saw the same thing last weekend. This one was ready to claw my eyes out.

It looks like it is getting ready to take a crap on you.

I thought this little guy was going to fly at me like a dart!

Cute little guy there, what is with all the owls being out during the day lately?
-
I love the owl pics they are such cool birds I had one hanging out with me for a couple hours while hunting not too long ago but didn't get any pics....

Heres another pissed off one from a few weeks ago.

I'm in on the un-official owl thread.
Saw this one while checking trail cams, it is about as big as a 6" sub sandwich. It let me get to about 8 feet.

red eyed owl the size of a sub sandwich that is funny

I posted this already but thought I would share again. This was the third owl I have seen so far this hunting season. Owls do have a way of looking right through you.

I've seen a ton of Owls this year probable about 30 or so. I've had a couple of them swoop down in front of me & then fly up on a branch & eat a snake. Gruesome but cool to watch.

this guy was enforcing the no littering

I have been in the woods a lot and have never seen a dead owl. Interesting picture.
-
Not like a person sees alot of owls in the first place. I mostly see them at dusk as I am driving out.
-
Do a search on Transformer Owl, it is a funny video clip. The grandkids always want to see it again.
-
Not an owl but a very unhappy Sharp-shinned Hawk

I hope it's Ok. I used this as my background on my laptop. I think this is one of the neatest pictures I've seen of an owl.

Have to agree, that is an awesome pic. Would love to get a full megapixel copy of that. Byrdman, I am pretty sure that is a western screech owl.
-
He looks normal for a great horned owl, they are tough guys though and breeding season is starting for them. Do not mess with them as they eat most anything, and might remove your fur hat. The barn owl death is pretty common, they produce lots of young and often die early.

They also hunt a lot along the highways for mice and get whacked by vehicles when they're zeroed in on them and not paying attention. If you're tempted to pick one up for the feathers or talons, don't. My roommate in college tried it and got a big ticket. Protected wildlife and all that good stuff....

I used to spend a lot of time driving from East Lk Samamish Pkwy up to the Plateau, 41st I think. always had a giant white Owl swooping down in front of me 2-3x a night. Nearly hit my windshield a few times.
Never got pics, till this guy started showing up in Kirkland at one of my Properties.
-
Those are some very cool pics. The one with the red eyes is awesome ... :rockin:
-
See them dead on the road all the time. They like to hunt the roads, it's easier to spot the mice that way. They also burrow and the nest in the cuts. Between the burrows and perching along the road we're dodging them to and from work. Nothing will jolt you out of your inattention until you catch a flash of white passing over the windshield in the dark. I'll have to look tonite when I get home for some of my owl pics.

I watched a raptor catch a BIG snake over on the North Fork of the years back. Once it had it in its talons it tried to fly away but the snake was striking away like a Chihuahua on the postman, so the bird flew down onto the river bar and finished off the snake. Then it decided that was the place to have lunch, so I moved on after watching him tear into the serpent.
