Well, if you can't nail a 3PT in 636 there are some serious issues. I saw one hell of a 5x4 this summer on the road up to Jefferson Lake.

1063 Skokomish Archery Nov. 1-24 2 pt. min. GMU 636 10 NEW, out of the pamphlet, I would DEFINATELY call wdfw and find out why yours has a misprint.......
Hunting is good everywhere, as far as harvesting........
lots of deer in unit,
GMU 636-SKOKOMISH (Grays Harbor and Mason counties):

2006 General Harvest = (Deer - 145) ( Elk - 0) ( Bear - 13) ( Cougar - 2) (Turkey - 0)

2007 General Harvest = (Deer - 167)  ( Elk - 0)( Bear -20)  ( Cougar - ?)(Turkey -0)

2008 General Harvest = (Deer - 139) ( Elk - 0) ( Bear - 40) (Cougar - ?) (Turkey -0)

Skokomish Valley rd, FR 2270 (along the east side of Wynoochee lake are access points to hundreds of miles of logging roads.  This is a popular area, but, use the crowds to your advantage by getting out of your rig and finding closed or gated areas to hike into.  The other hunters will push the deer into those areas.  Permit only elk unit.

Look for the road closure areas around Lake Cushman, Humptulips River, and the upper Wynoochee River to hold opportunity for non motorized hunting.

Early Season High Buck Hunt Info WARNING! These areas are rugged and should only be hunted by those with  extensive experience in mountaineering and wilderness travel!!!

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This 2,349 acre Wilderness is one of the smallest wildernesses in the Western United States. Wonder Mountain Wilderness borders the Olympic National Park and is located west of Lake Cushman in Mason County. Terrain is generally rugged and ranges from a low of 1,740 feet in McKay Creek to the summit of Wonder Mountain at 4,758 feet. The lower slopes are heavily timbered with dense stands of Douglas- fir, western hemlock, and Pacific silver fir. Massive rock outcrops and precipitous pinnacles are common in the higher elevations.

Wonder Mountain is the highest peak in the Wilderness. Wonder Ponds and several other ponds are located in the high headwaters of McKay Creek. There are no rivers or major streams in the Wilderness. The two major access roads have seasonal closures from October 1 to May 1 to protect wildlife. RECREATION OPPORTUNITIES The Wonder Mountain Wilderness has good opportunities for backpacking, mountain climbing, fishing, and camping in a primitive setting. Opportunities for solitude are excellent.  There are no trails within this Wilderness. Access is only by cross-country travel. Wilderness travelers should carry map and compass for route finding.  Wilderness visitors should always carry rain gear and adequate clothing, food, and backpacking equipment. Proper boots and clothing should be worn.

NOTICE

I hunted there years ago, used to pick the Blue Huckleberries up above the falls.
I have not been there in a while, but figured it would be a good chance to get out for 3 extra weeks of deer season.
I was also planning on using some of my time scouting for late Elk in the Wynoochee.
I will be heading out there to burn some gas and peek in behind a gate or two this month, and just look around to get a feel for area.
