My buddies watched a guy at first light who was down in a clear cut(didn't know they were there) i guess he kept shooting off caps with his muzzle loader. no actual loads just caps. then they saw the dead bull as he walked up to it. they decided to go ask him how he killed a bull with out firing a shot. when they got down there the guy fled. they called WDFW who sent out a warden. the warden checked the tempreture of the bull and said it was killed around 2 or 3 this morning buy a modern rifle. anyways he let an older local guy tag it so the meat didn't get wasted. still pisses me off >:(. and the guy got away for now. :bash: :bash:

Scumbags!!!!! >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

So you're saying that the WDFW game warden let someone tag a poached Elk? Doesn't sound right to me??? They wont even let you tag a road kill elk. Something fishy there if you ask me. Just my :twocents:
-
Well he did. Fishy or not. Atleast it didn't go to waste.
-
you can tag road kill if you want to waste your tag on bumper kill my buddy did it a couple years ago
-
>:(I was in that unit till after dark last night-saw several deer and a hugh camp with over a half dozen rigs. Hope they catch the piece of chit :twocents:

Sounds like a good warden to me. He actually cares about wildlife if he let someone take it home that will put it to good use.

I agree. This isn't the first time I've heard of this happening either. This isn't the first time I've heard of a warden allowing someone to use thier tag on an illegally taken animal. I think it's a rather fine thing to do...the animal at least doesn't go to waste.

did the guy really think he would fool somebody by blasting off caps? what an idiot. im glad you were there to call him on it even if he got away. its good that the bull didn't go to waste.

was that out by the brooklyn tavern? that road in the pic looks awful familiar?

what crap. like said, did he really think capin a few caps would fool anyone :dunno: :bash:

When I was a senior in HS, I was working the local gas station on an afternoon of opening weekend deer season. Our town drunk came rolling into town with a 5 point bull (whole but gutted) in the back of his pickup. He claimed to have found it laying in a meadow but we all knew he shot it. He was drunk as a skunk. He pulled the pickup into the gas station for everyone to see the thing, and he hobbled home to continue his drunk fest. It didn't take long before the ODFW warden drove up to investigate. By then, my buddy and I had gone to work skinning the elk so it wouldn't go to waste. ODFW told us to continue, and allowed us to hang the meat at the local deputy's house. They actually gave some of the elk to our school for the lunch program. Those were the days back then, with home cooked meals to die for. We ate very well after that. The guy was convicted of killing it, and lost his hunting privileges for 5 years, and paid a 5k fine (back in 1977, that was a huge fine).

No. It was up green creek. In willapa valley

The meat should go to an organization, not an individual.
One can imagine a warden can pocket a few hundred bucks on an animal. 8)
-
Time and money spent giving the elk to an organization was avoided by giving it to the older gent. Good on the warden :twocents:
-
WHAT A WASTE. Why would someone kill such a magnificent unfairley and out of context.
-
I have seen wardens do it several times and think it's great. I doubt there is any money pocketed on their part. Most wardens are great guys that are tasked to enforce the laws the screaming ass liberals make. Hope they figure out who the guy was. Good work on catching the guy and making the call.
