Title: Muzzle loading parts
Post by: Ridgeratt on October 06, 2010, 06:27:37 PM
I have acquired several boxes of muzzle loading parts from a person at work who's father in-law built them. Right now I am trying to get the stuff all sorted out. Spent the last 3 evenings just sorting back and forth into boxes.
I have about 30 + sets of molds and handles. There are boxes of nipples and main springs and some locks.
I am not sure just how many cans of # 11's there are and also Musket caps.
There are several bags of flints as well.
There are a few Lyman 57 receiver sites as well most are for 99 savages but still trying to find out the others.
As I get a list of the stuff figured out I will post it.

This is just a heads up I guess if this needs to be posted in the classified ads when I put the list up.

Ok so here is a bit more refined list

Looks like 2 molds in 58 cal one in a Maxie ball and the other maybe a sharps mold in a round ball
5 molds in 57 cal 4 of which are Maxie balls and one round ball mold
Looks like 1 roundball in 54. cal
5 molds in 50 cal all round ball.  1 double cavity
10 molds that look like 45 cal. all are round ball and 1 is a double cavity
1 mold that looks like a 37 cal roundball
1 36 cal round ball
I think that's most of them so far
But I'm trying to find a good source of info to get closer. Google just takes time folks :dunno:

there are some mold handles as well

Once you decide what you want to part with them, I'd be interested in one of the .50 cal molds and I have a friend who probably will be interested in the .54 cal mold.  :)  Thanks!

I would be interested in one of the round ball .50 cal moulds.  I allready have a .54 round ball mould.

I think you're on the east side of the state?

yes I'm in Spokane.

Perhaps Machias or your self if your up on molds could look at this stuff and figure out just what is there. The boxes are a bit over whelming

When you decide to get rid of the flints let us know. Are they napped or cut flints and approximate size, and of course what you want for them. I only need a few. Are the locks precussion or flint, and what brand? I am about 20 miles north of Spokane.

Hangfire
I ended up with 4 boxes of parts I'm sorting thru.
not sure what the difference is in flints.
What happened is a person at work got all this stuff from his father in-law and he didn't want it so he gave it to me. Well he told me to take what I wanted and sell the rest.
So with out trying to get in trouble on here,
So I am looking for some insight as to just what I have. I make a run north on 395 every weekend this time of year.

I'd be interested in the flints.  Let me know how many you have and how much you want for them.  The width across the bevel or knapped edge and the length would be good to know too.  Thanks.
