I said yes but that was me with a longbow. Rifle in hand I would hold. Might be sick about it, but I would hold
-
:hunter:
looks like a nice mature buck with some great mass...
-
That would be a click boom as well, unless it was day one, then I MIGHT be able to hold off, but probably not!!
-
Smokepole Oregon... Probably.
Entiat late modern.... No.
-
I can't do it. Maybe if his passenger side matched his driver's side.
(with my modern permit)
-
Nope, HOLD!!! Gotta be bigger than that! Too crabby on the one side!
-
yeah i would keep looking, unless it was last day then its game over.
-
That's tough to pass, but his crab claw is killing me. Wait to long for a tag like that, to kill an "almost" buck.
-
With a permit? Last day buck.
-
:'( Decisions, decisions, decisions.... Boom.
I would have to say shoot it this year. With my hip talking to me daily, I would have to say shoot. In a few years after a bit of surgery...I would let him go.
-
Wish he was more even, but anything with three points a side or better would be good enough. Besides I don't have any place to display that thing.
-
General season BOOM!
Permit nope.
Im getting to the point that 4pts get shot in general seasons....
-
Im not waisting 12 points on him, pass.
-

Exactly my thoughts. Hell might be 20 by the time I draw...
-
I voted yes, BUT, I would be hunting the unit with someone who knows it. If he told me to hold off, I would hold off.
PathfinderJR says he would pop a gasket if he saw that buck.
-
Pass, Maybe my Daugther might Tag him before Wolves Wipe out all.
Mulehunter :)
-
If he had Eyegaurds I would really be thinking about it but I would pass aswell. Dandy buck though!
-
Hmmm, I've never shot a muley, so for me it is a no brainer. :hunter:
-
Rifle I'd pass, Bow I'd stick'em. :twocents: That fact that it is a draw tag would make me lean heavy on passing even with a bow, but i want to get a nice 4pt mule and BT with my bow...
-
Pass with bow and with modern. With a permit I would be looking for better or know there was better.
-
I'm with Bone on this one. Bow=Yes. Rifle, I'd hold out for a bigger buck.
-
I voted pass but it would depend on many variables.
-

:yeah:
-
I don't really care what day it is. He's going down.
-
I voted pass, but if it was a bow in my hand I'd slip an arrow into him.
-
can't eat the antlers. He's brown and going down. :chuckle:
-
I'd only pass if I knew I had a chance at BIGGIE or Majestic..... nice pics bone!
-
I would have voted NO but you said to be honest........ and honestly, if I spot that buck, it's going down if I can help it.
It would be a fine bench mark from which I could improve in later years.
-
I say pass as an armchair QB. But in real life he would have hit the dirt in a second. :chuckle:

Ahem... The thread topic says "Permit boys" :chuckle: We really don't need your opinion.

Why dont you tell us how you did on your first permit hunt. We have been dying to hear!!!! :chuckle:
-
since ive never drawn a permit and never taken a muley like that [even in Mont.]and after 5 days I would probably not have any more vacay time hes going down, and I would be very happy about it.
-
I am dying to see that Oregon buck. Must be a bruizer :)
-
i normally shoot the first three point i see, so i normally dont get to see deer that big lol but at least my freezer has meat in it

Ok. I drew a Metolius muzz tag in hopes of killing a 170 buck or even better. Hunted my ass off in a foot of snow, rain and wind through some of the thickest *censored* I have ever seen. Was seeing about 100-150 deer a day. 90% does, the remainder spikes and two's. Did jump a super heavy dark horned 3 that never offered any shot with my muzzleloader. Spooked another 160ish buck on my last day that disappeard in about 5 seconds in that same thick manzanita I mentioned before. On my last day I ended up shooting a small 4x4. No monster but made some use of a $375 tag. :) Maybe some day if you ever apply for an out of state hunt instead of talking about it each year, you might get an opportunity at a big buck! You read too many magazines ;) So all in all, I shot the third biggest buck of my trip! Happy?
-
That is good thing because you did not want to have 2 taxidermy bills this year anyways, with that late tag in your pocket

That's the excuse I've been using :chuckle:
Here's the pic Stick! I know its noting like that Ritzville smasher you shot with your last late tag on the last day, but it eats good :chuckle:
:jacked:

Man Trav, only one word come to mind for this reply......DECAFF!! :chuckle:
-
I was a little buzzed last night :chuckle: I should switch to decaff after six o clock. I've been laying in bed awake every night ever since draw results came out. :chuckle: At least it made for a quick read, didn't see a reason to dump a novel in your guy's lap!

Dead, In Utah I would hold out. In Washington I would be damn happy with those crab claw fronts!
:EAT: :mgun2: :bumpin:
-
-Thats a crack up!! Cute little buck :chuckle:

Sorry man, I had to since your blacktail from last year was bigger
-
BOOM :chuckle:
-
Rifle hold........... Archery let it fly...
-
:yeah: :yeah:
-
I would squeeze the trigger, done deal... :hunter:
-
nope i would pass not using all my points for a meat tag. :twocents:
-
I said no.. But that would also weigh on what I'd have been seeing and how long I was into the hunt. Very good looking buck though. Range to target, location to private land with ability to recover the animal or not might have crossed my mind. Later into the hunt, I'd have plugged him. I don't bow hunt but if I did... Let arrow fly if there's a good shot opportunity. I will occasionally hunt with pistol. Dead buck with pistol. But I wouldn't bet my luck on a permit hunt to only hunt with pistol.

Little late to the thread, but I voted Yes. After seeing nothing for so long, if that sucker popped up in my crosshairs, theres no question
:bfg:
Great pic
-
sorry for the late response, new to the site...
after being drawn for alkali with archery last year and having to take a 19 inch 2x3 on the last day... I would shoot that buck on opening morning if i had the shot
-
It's only a deer............dead.
-
If the question was day 5 assuming it is a 7 day hunt. And that was above what had been seen.
Dead buck.
-
That's a beautiful buck. I'd drop the string in a heartbeat.
