One of the best parts of this site for me are the pics. Some of the best have been all the different hunting camp pics. From Cascade's camp last elk season with nice clean wall tent and 10 cords of firewood to Coonhounds bivy sack on the top of a mountain many miles from the nearest road. Let's see some more hunting camp pics. Here is a typical Wea300mag camp in Montana or on an extended hunt here in WA.

I have also made impromtu camps like this one in a wide spot in the road. Some on here may have seen it as it was last year on the Poorman Cr Rd in the Methow on opening weekend. We received lots of comments from passers by including the game warden.
-
300, you beat me to it! Great idea. Your wall tent is a proper camp.
We have a mule deer camp in the same place in the Okanogan. We have invitees stopping for miles around to drink our coffee in the morning and beer at night. Lot of good stories told in hunting camp!
I remember as a kid, wishing shooting hours would end so Dad would take me back to camp. I was rubber-legged tired, but when we got back to camp it was a new day. Something magical about a proper camp. Still works for me now.
-
The first is a 9 day drop in Alaska, ya that little thing was home when it rained too :'(
The next is the standard set up when we go to Colorado. The main tent, on the right is the sleeping quarters, on the left is for the food and tack.
I have never just taken pics of camp, I am going to start doing that. I like the pics you guys posted
Steve

Here is Cascade's camp pic I mentioned in the first post. There is just something special about having a firewood supply like that. Here is a link to their thread. I hope they don't mind me reposting it.

Dang 300, I'll have to compare pics but that second picture looks like "my elk camp" spot sometimes. Funny. Great pictures guys.
-
300, looks like they're staying the whole season! We stack deer up like cord wood, but you can't burn them.
Here's our whiskey bar and bunk quarters.
-
Seriously how long does it take to set up all that stuff?
:o
-
man those are some pretty elaborate camps!! here was my camp for a few days in the backcountry hunting elk!!
-
For us it takes two days. We pitch the tent and get most everything erected the first day after driving to camp. On Friday we cut a cord of firewood and take care of details. There's four of us so your looking at 64 man hours just getting the props in place. After that we stay two weeks. That's 1/25th of a year just about, so we like to have things just so.
It's a lot of work, but we like doing it the old way. Some of our partners have gone to their maker -- men who came in on jeep trails and had to roll rocks out of the way in the middle of the night just to get to camp. They hunted in saddle shoes and rolled cigarettes by hand. So it's a tradition we just don't want to forget.
Here's the meat pole in 2007. Still worth it.
-
Here are some pics of out late buck hunt 2008. Up for 2 weeks. It is the same tent that is in cascades camp as we are hunting partners. Let me tell you we cut a lot of wood all season and got drunk many nights in that tent. The tent was up for I think 6 weeks strait from general deer to late buck. Lots of good animals this year to.
-
hows about fishing camp?? does that count?
36 miles up rock creek road in montana.

If you are asking me its AK.
-
Our most comfortable to date along the haul road..... Followed up by couple years ago goat hunt camp...... And finally home sweet home if I'm near a road system...
-
This is my usual camp, becoming a minimalist I guess...
Next is our North Dakota whitetail camp, The older I get the better it feels....
Last is a camp addition ( 5 yards of bridal cloth ) worked great to cape out a bear while keeping those Idaho yellow jackets at bay...
-
great thread, camps are special places with special memories.

If I can get my camper in there ... then it looks something like this.

Jack-
No F’in way, I camp at that same rock creek spot! Couple of good holes around there, I prefer the Bitterroot though. You ever see the goats on the rocks across the creek? Can’t wait to get out that way come June!
-
we did not fish the root...that was my bachelor trip 2.5 years ago the weekend before my wedding. we fished the blackfoot too that trip, but it was midsummer and the fishing was great for smallish fish. lots of them, but no big fish. i had a big fish on, and broke him off on the rock. that was a trip i will never forget with good friends.
-
Cool topic and great pic's. I'll have to dig through my pictures to find a few to contribute!
-
Our wilderness camp
-
looks pretty much the same every year for the last 10 or so....
-
Those are some great camp pics. I'm still waiting for Coonhounds bivy sak and Graybrow's Taj Mahal though.
-
Not so primitive as it used to be.

It didn't seem like we ever got to have a fire we were alway so late coming in, and early leaving. Once the meat is in camp the fire is lit.
This was the caping table for the day.

I've almost got Idabooner trained about campfires. He thinks I should leave the woodpile forthe next guy or our next trip. I feel, I cut it, I'm burning it.
Here is another style of camp.....a little more comfortable, still not nearly as fancy as some of yours.

-
Here is our Elk camp...we used to rough it...but not so much anymore...Not pictured...my tent which is off to the side...Cant sleep in the trailers...they snore too dam loud! ;) So I tent it every year....guess I need to get a trailer/rig to pull it with, so I match... Also not pictured...our comode off in the woods about 150 feet or so. Good thread.
:cmp1:
-
Just bumping this thread up a bit, as we have new folks on here who were obviously interested in camp sites....
plus, its a kewl thread.

Well lets see, Idaho elk first............entiat second
-
Idaho Deer camp, nice to have friends with benefits!!!
-
Does this count? Can't see the house though.
Have some pictures from the top of the property looking down, but cannot find them........
Gotten spoiled being able to stay in a nice warm house at night and take showers, then walk out the door and hike away and you are hunting. This deer was about a mile out from the house on public land, I got one about an hour later about 500 yards from the house.
-
Those plush hunting shacks/campers/trailers count as long as you even them out with a few bivy hunts each year. :chuckle:
-
I have still never done a Bivy hunt. Spent many a night sleeping in the back of my old Explorer, but that was as close I have gotten.
-
Heres a camp from a couple of weeks ago, not very exciting :)

Actually shows from one extreme to another, I like it. You carry your camp in a medium sized backpack....Mine is in a full sized pickup, I bet you enjoy yours just as much as I do, LOL

Deer camp 07' before it snowed for 4 days straight.
-
Elk Camp 2007. Some jerks pulled in while we were away, and ran off with 1/2 cord of split firewood. Other than that it was a great camp! :cmp1:
-
Nice camp. I have no tolerance for ass holes that would steal wood. I still can't believe people can be such asses.
-
i may have already posted this one. but i will show a few other pics of it. this is my beloved "sheep camp". its my home away from home basically from august to the very bitter end of november or early december. its all i could ask for in a home.. plenty of wood, a spring down the hill 50 yards,, great sun in the morning, protected by wind, all with a great morning view.
-
really loved this topic....thought i would post and start it again.

I guess I never took photos of hunting camp. It's camp, whether it was a bivy, tarp, tent, truck and camper, various trailers over the years... It was and is that place that draws you down that muddy road or trail in the dark. That home away from home after a days hike and hunting. Where the fire, whiskey, hot food, clean pair of skivies (I hope), and that contested game of Rummy happens. It's where the stories get fatter around the fire. Where the friendly pranks are pulled on the unsuspecting younger hunters. Where the Deer hangs out back. Kinda like Vegas. What goes on there, stays there. Until next season.
I just never took photos of camp.
I'll have to start, (some 30 years behind).

This a great post, its getting my blood rolling for October! I hunt with Smokepole, the second camp pics on the post. It is a choir setting up, but it sure is nice when you come off the Mountain from a long day.
Smokepole did not give the complete tour. He left out the Shower, running water, and Sh*t*er. :P I will see if I can find some pics......... :chuckle:
-
Here's a few of my camps, pretty much look the same camping or hunting. This year I added a bivy to the mix, no pics of it yet though.

Cant wait to go back in November :hunter:

Cool pic Actionshooter. Looks good when those tents are glowing. I tried a night shot of our tent last year. Didn't turn out that great, but I thought it was cool seeing the light reflect off of the snow in the branches above the tent. Maybe this year I'll get a better one.
-
My camp pics are no longer on here from the 1st page so here is one again of our '07 peaches deer/elk camp.

Nice bivy Actionshooter ;)

This picture was taken in the Black Hills of South Dakota during our turkey hunt in 2007. ( we practiced pitched the tent on my in-laws farm) The day we made camp it was 60 degrees. By midnight the next night, it was 14 degrees with freezing rain. Thank God for the wood stove. It saved us from freezing...probably saved my marriage too.
Have a safe and productive season.
Best regards,
Billy

Wow! Nobark. That Eniat picture looks suspiciously like our tent. I think I might even have that picture in my photo album with a doe kill and nice 4 point buck also.
-
The tents that are lit up at night reminds me of elk camp last year. There was a bunch of tents set up and at night it looked like tent city. It even looked like there was 2 story tents. I tried to get a picture but they did not turn out. These are awesome pictures everyone!

Interesting to see 509'er's transitions in camp acommidations over the years. Many of us have gone through the same stages. Tent, to lesser RV, Better RV. Small tents where you can't get the RV to. Bigger RV, then with some I see that they go back to a Wall tent.
I don't have the wall tent, but I've got much of the others available to me. I don't have any photos. I remember hunting out of the canopy of my truck with a tarp suspended by Alder trees out the back in the pouring rain of the west side. I went to a camper, then a trailer, A bigger trailer, A bigger trailer. Now if I go on the high hunt, I'm back to a whole lot less gear. No generator. No radio to listen to the game. No chainsaw! No forced air heat! No microwave!

Our camp has certainling improved over the years. We used to be very primative. I remember surviving weeks at a time in negative temps in Montana with an old Colemon tent and the old style dome heaters that you had to pour gas on the dome to light it (those things were such a pain in the azz).

A few years back my brother brought to hunting camp his laptop...a projecter and a movie screen.
We hooked it all up to the Generator and watched "300" the night before opening day. Here we are in the middle of nowhere watching a movie, I hope the animals enjoyed it.
