Got up to my hunting spot today eager to check my game cam...Couple pics of a nice looking bear. And these to jokers in the woods @2:40am? the time and date are correct. It would take at least 45mins to an 1hour hike to get where my cam is. My guess is that they are up to no good. Can anyone tell what the second guy is carrying? Looks like a hoof to me.
-
You've got a couple Mushroom pickers working your area...it's chantrelle time.
-
There setting bear bait.
-
Where's the bear pics?
-
Bear bait or they are putting in a stash.
-
coonhound mushroom pickin at 3am? :P
-
Yeah, there baiting that bear is well fed.
-
Mushroom pickers!
if they were up to no good I think your camera would be either gone or broke, the flash would have given away the cameras location. :twocents:
-
I think you are right.. if they were up to no good theres noway they would have left my cam. I still dont understand the time
-
They can bring out 30 - 50 pounds of chanterelle mushrooms, we pay $20 -$25 per pound for them. Big $$$$$ some of them hike all night.
-
There dropping bait and picking dope!
-
It too hard to tell what hes carrying when I blow the pic up the quality goes to hell. I forgot this last pic..
-
Helium Ballons travel a long distance :chuckle: :dunno:
-
Probably just dumping a dead hooker...(yawn)
-
makes a man wonder what goes bump in the night
-
I would bet that at that time of the morning they were hauling out dope, who the hell picks mushrooms in the dark? Definetly dope, is that time of year still harvest season?
-
could be a lot worse, it could be meth. :dunno:
-
That appears to be some kind of brass tool or pipe in his hand. We need someone with some high end editing software to confirm. There not pickin shrooms at 2:50am!
-
Bear bait or they are putting in a stash.
Yup, I was thinking some backwoods horticulture too
-
It looks to me like a bow in his hand inside a garbage bag ? Looks like a bow wrist strap around his wrist & holding the bow by the handle. The buckets are weird, the second guy is carrying an empty one ? Whole thing is weird. Seems like if they were up to no good they would of snagged the camera. Mystery for sure. Mike
-
if there were hauling dope you think they would have left the camera alone :IBCOOL: no way in hell ;)
-
Is your camera flash or infrared? They may not have noticed it. They are wearing headlamps. For me head lamps kind of mess with my vision the way they shine over my eyes. Very strange! The first guy looks like he has a bail of something.
-
A little late in the year for picking dope isn't it? I Thought the middle of September was harvest time for that.

I'm going with bear bait or shroomers.

>:( They are up to something no good, Nobody goes walking around in the woods at that time in the morning. Doesnt make any sense...
-
My camera has a flash on it. definitely weird :yike:
-
I would contact local Sheriff and or Game Warden, let them see it. Might be something they would like to look into a little closer.

:yeah:
You never know. They might be lookin for a few just like that..

who pays $20 -$25 for chantrelles I wil start sellin them there.
-
Well here is my guess. They have a bale of hay on the one guys back. The buckets are for hauling apples. Not sure what the second guy is carrying. Could be a bow as stated earlier. If they were druggies, I agree the camera would be gone. Seems you have competition in that spot.
-
sorry but I realy don't think they are hunters. The one guy is wearing basketball shoes and that is not a bow in his hand. Zoom in on it. These guys are up to something maybe just too stupid to figure out how to remove the camera. I would report it your local sheriffs office maybe they are working a case against these guys.
-
thats very strange, how far off a road is it?
-
You guys need to get over the conspiracy theories... ;) I ensure you they are your typical mushroom pickers. These guys get pretty territorial over their mushroom patches and I'm sure they are either trying to keep their honey hole a secret or trying to avoid the forest service permit. A good mushroom patch can yield $1000's of dollars a day if you hit it just right. I know the exact spot where this camera is hung and the entire drainage in that area is well known by the mushroom pickers.

It is still strange even if they are mushroom pickers.
So do you know the O.P. and where his camera is or do you recognize the area from the picture?
-
Yep. shroom pickers. They have racks in those packs to haul mega loads without crushing them. They cruise in early to get the best spots. Just like Hunters. Imagine that. Lol
They were all over the Skok this weekend. Lots of Bear baiters and pot harvesters everywere! Lol
-
i know my nieghbors pick mushrooms at night. and never ever go out without a gun. the people who pick mushrooms for a living like my nieghbors get very violent if they catch you in their spot. so now they only pick at night to avoid being caught in other peoples spots
:dunno: people get crazy over some dumb stuff
-
I think too that mushrooms, being white, show up nicely at night when using a flashlight.
If those guys are high on meth, they could pick all night and still not be sleepy.
Unless you have picks of them looking directly at the camera, they may have mistaken a flash for the other guy's flashlight. Maybe they didn't see the camera. At least it is fun to speculate.

Yep...I know the O.P. and I know exactly where his camera is located, it is a pretty fair distance for a mushroom picker but the competition for a good honey hole is stiff these days.

what do you mean you know exactly where it is ? are you stalking me! :P J/K

I had no idea "shrooming" was that big. What do you suppose that first guy is carrying?
-
Learn something new everyday!
-
Maybe they were smoking their own supply and got lost thought the flash was a sign from God :chuckle:
-

It looks like a styrofoam box to me, but I have seen large mushroom containers that have stack or slide in racks to keep them from smashing the mushrooms.
-
Crazy pics for sure but I'd guess shroomers also. Is there a chantrelle "season" or best time to pick them? I came across an area that was loaded with them during hunting season but wasn't positive on the ID until I got home and looked it up.
-
It is the season. That guy has slide in racks with a white sheet wrapped around it to keep mushrooms inside once full. The blue thing is a tarp to keep them dry.
The season is gangbusters this year. Lots of Mushrooms! Its a bit wet right now. Need a couple days of dry weather. I statred finding them this year in Augest. They will be gone when the first couple good freezes happen.
-
Probably up cooking meth or something. :dunno:
