Yes it is a drake Pintail. It was a great day hunting everything went right for us out in the wide open tidal flats. I had fun taking Dfarley and his son out the snows were just north of us and as a few went to the fields sometimes they would fly over us and low enough. The big candas came over and we were again lucky enough and in the right spot to take one.
-
Yes, it was a pintail. sorry...we did get one Canadian, he came home with me... :P

like a marriage visa deal?
-
is that your final answer? :bash:
-
:chuckle: almost positive there is 2 pintails there...
-
I'll give you $50 if you tell me which bird on your tailgate is a hen mallard.
C'mon guys, learn to id what you shoot before you pull the trigger! :bash:
-
I can assure you that I most certainly id them before I pull the trigger. There is a mallard hen (1) under the goose. I make it a practice to teach my son ethical hunting practices. I mistyped earlier. :twocents:
-
are you talking about the duck right next to the greenhead on the left hand side? If so tht is 100% pintail, I dont see a hen mallard but i do see 2 pintails in the pic.
-
tailgate shots are always better when you hide the mystery duck under the geese!
2 pintails in the pic, that's all we're saying.
-
I see 2 pintail drake bill's. Duck ID can be tricky, especially on young bird's, especially on the wing. Been there, done that.
-
Good to see you out in the field with the young feller. It's not about the number's,it's about the experience. Had ~200 mallards and ~100 GW teal on the property this weekend but didn't hunt as my old dog (>1,200 retrieves lifetime) was stoved up from too much exercize Friday. Birds should be there this coming weekend and am planning for it. Kinda getting stoked actually. Normally I don't hunt waterfowl before Thankgiving but hey......I think I'll test the new blind and get a couple of greenhead's!
-
My son's smile let up the morning sky!! We had so much fun, a big thanks to Terrelwa for taking us along.
-
dude gotta love ur signature line......not only does nobody care how many ducks you have shot, but you only have 2 mallards and a canada? :yike:........dont think I would be bragging about that  :bdid:...btw..are you sure the ducks were mallards....maybe they were pintails or better yet scoters! :chuckle:

I don't understand the personal attacks. A good way to discourage people. :twocents:

The point of the post was to share our excitement, with what I felt was like minded people. I had a great day with my son, and yet, there are those who can only find meaning in their lives, by making fun of others. You should be proud of how well you represent duck hunting as a whole, as you really set a great example for those who are just coming into the sport. Now that is a real BAD IDEA!
-
regardless of the other statements, looks like you guys had a great time and the snows are my favorite bird by a long shot, I love them. I can hear them in my head 12 months out of the year. sometimes it really drives me nuts when I get home from a hunt I can hear the snows and they are LOUD, in my head. i'm a bit concerned actually, LOL :P

And how do people that shoot unidentified birds or better yet, cant identify birds in their hands, represent the sport? :hello:

i think he's figured it out, quit beating a dead horse.
-
I'm no water fowl hunter, but some of the post here were really in bad taste. Thanks for sharing the picks of your son and harvest. Hey all the *censored*s that had something cute to say. Guess what kinda bird I'm holding up to the screen now!
-
A lot of waterfowl hunters are arrogant a$$holes which is apparent in some posts,That looks like a great mixed bag that you guys shot and don't let these horses ass try to discourage you.

Thank U!....why do we need to encourage people who cant even do it right or better yet legal......same kind of guys that ruin the ethical hunter's mornings with thier kazoos and skybusting (at birds they cant identify) :beatdeadhorse:....i think the horse is finally dead tho ;)
-
Wait now I see the hen mallard
-
Hen, the one I cleaned, the one I reported, the one neither of you could identify.
-

We live in Kenmore, but can travel, as that is always part of the adventure.
