Your pics aren't loading.

All I see are red X's.
-
Your pics aren't loading.
:yeah:
I'd love to see the pics! I know that area pretty well.
-
Congrats!! I've yet to see a buck back in there
looking forward to the rest of the pics
-
working on the pic's sorry guy's not sure whats going on...
-
How did you know you were 1 inch high and 3 inches left on your miss?
Good eating deer you got there... way better than those stinky old 4x's.
-
saw were it hit behind and from many years of training...
-
is your trigger really set at .08 lbs? :o
-
i better not trip :chuckle:
-
Glad you got the pics up. Hey! I know that cliff in the first pic!
Nice to see a buck come out of there.
-
If I hit "1inH and 3inR " I would have had a dead deer. What were you aiming at? Also, if your trigger is so light that you can not control when it goes off, you are a danger to everyone out there. glad you got your deer but ....... :nono: You get an F for safety in my book.
-
Thanks for sharing
:IBCOOL:
-
dumb azz
-
Did you ever look to see if you hit the 4 point? 3" is really not that much. Congrats on the deer but I think I would rather leave my boots at home than leave the house without sighting in my gun....
-
Glad you got a buck, but I've never understood why people post pics of spots they hunt that are SOOOOOOOOOOO recognizable along with nice little scouting reports on other bucks in the area.
I know its a well known area, but a little secrecy wouldn't hurt.
And hunting with a rifle thats not sighted in??????
Anyway, thanks for the scouting report.... :dunno:
-
i saw were the bullet hit and i was going for a spine shot it hit a old stump behind it bark flew up and the buck just trotted off. if i was going for a shoulder i would have killed him....
-
TALK TALK AND MORE TALK BUNCH OF HATERS ;) THIS AND THAT I WOULD HAVE COULD HAVE WERE'S YOUR DEER? DOE OR BUCK???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Thank you for postive comments any haters can just shut the f%*^ up :) And it's funny people will still post negative stuff :dunno:
-
Wow! Quite a story.
-
cool I hunt there too :hello: :chuckle: you wouldnt mind leaving that camp chair for me during the late season? anyway nice meat buck!
-
Did you pile the meat right on that stump or is there something underneath?
-
hey now, that right there is good eating
-
the meat was on the stump better than being in the dirt...
-
my triger is set at 8oz's not typical 3lbs
Please tell us you don't really mean your trigger is set at 1/2 pound.
If so, please tell me where you hunt so I can stay the he11 away.

MasterTracker,
Great buck,
You are getting heat because your actions do not show respect for the animal that just gave it's life. Before and after the kill for that matter.
I bet you got a few takeaways from this hunt to be better prepared.
1. Safety, triggers set that light can be extremely dangerous in the woods. Save that for the bench.
2. Sight in your rifle. Taking off a scope to clean a rifle doesn't make much sense to me, especially the day before season. Going into the woods with out sighting in your rifle is a bad idea.
3. Carry some pillow cases to put the meat in. Dirt and heat, spoil meat.
4. I would hold back on posting info like you did. You may have company there next year. There are a lot of woodsmen on this site that can pick out an area by the flowers in the background.
5. Judging by the information given, I am doubting you saw the bullet hit with a 7 mag's recoil at 210 yards. I would have checked to see if the big one was hit before pulling the trigger on another one.
Nice meat buck. He will taste good.
-
it's more 11ish but you can pull it with a blade of grass...whats the big deal safety's always on unless im going to shoot and my finger is on the guard until i shoot..and i have 7 years if training of shooting triggers 1.5lb to 8oz just dont drink coffee and youl be alright :chuckle:
-
I saw the bullet hit the stump it was a rotted stump the type bears like and it was like a cloud of red dust...and after i shot my deer i double checked my scope by takeing a 200yd shot from a steady rest to see what went wrong and sure thing it was off...
-

Gotta agree w/ you on the trigger weight/safety... As long as the safety's engaged and your familiar with the weight, its no more dangerous than a heavier weight. Glad you got the rest of the pics working, good stuff!!

4 inches lower could have easily went through the deer and blew up that same stump in the same way.
-
Man if I saw a 4x5 blacktail I'd be shooting behind the shoulder! Don't run into that size buck very often.
That said, good work on the spike, some meat in the freezer.
-
Congrats on filing your tag but I would have to agree with the others on here. From the trigger pull weight, to the fact that you adjusted shots on the fly rather than stopping and sighting in your rifle BEFORE taking another shot at an animal, to laying the meat in the dirt/on the stump all tell me one thing....that I don't want to be anywhere near the same GMU as you are during hunting season.
Sorry man but that's the truth. Whatever "training" you might have had, it wasn't good training and certainly didn't teach you much in the way of firearm safetly. (And yes, I have had more than my fair share of training and am speaking from experience...and a lot of it)
-
quite the story, that is all I'm gonna say for now
-
Once again as a firearms instructor for the state,it shouldn't really matter what the poundage is set on your weapon as LONG as YOU are familiar with that weapon. Just remember SAFETY should always be your #1 consideration. Accidents dont just happen they are caused. Good tender meat buck..& remember to sight in your weapon... I just dont want to be anywhere you are. Sorry that is just the way it is ...
-
You took your scope off to clean your gun? You "forgot" to sight it back in? You've had 7 years of "training" with light triggers? You take "spine shots"? I don't know where to begin.... I'll just say that I think you and the sport would benefit if you teamed up with a hunter with a bit more/different experience.
Wile E.
P.S. I'm not not trying to hack on you just for sport. There are just some things described in your account of your hunt that go against how I was taught to hunt. Best of luck.

hhhmmmm no comment :o glad u hunt'in the west side 460 is a good place 4 u to b

no i hunt there, take him away, TAKE HIM AWAY or at least get me a kevlar vest. Just kidding MasterTracker, the whole trigger thing isnt a big deal as long as he knows not to get the coffee jitters before hitting the bush. Its a great write up, sounds like he had an awsome hunt
-

I was thinking the same thing!!!
-
Where's the story? Did this get moderated?
I see your signature says you "see like an eagle"....maybe that's how you saw your bullet was 1" high and 3" to the left...better yet that's probably how you saw his horns.
Good job though...enjoy the meat.

without being able to read the story I think it's all a bunch of BS
-
First of all your gun is a piece of crap, believe me I own the same one. you probably thought oh wow bore sighted right out of the box like the advertisements said when you bought it huh? Not the case. Thats probably why you missed. Remington didn't do well with the 700 series. Congrats, though not much to brag about but will be tender.
-
:liar: :mgun: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
wheres BigStick when you need him
-
Yeah I didn't even have to read the story and Im convinced of bull shizz too, his stories are mixed and inconsistant. And the comment he made "wheres your deer?" That really wasn't much of a deer, he really should have let him grow, definitely wouldn't be showing my face with such a little deer. I wish I could have read the original story.
-
:dunno: :o

:dunno: I own more then one Rem. model 700 and all are damn good guns. I beleive they have done fairly well with them. Maybe it's the shooter.
I did not read the story so no comment from me. Looks like good eats. Congrats. If what was said about taking the scope off, putting back on and not sighting it in after.....you may need more training in that area.
-

I guess that the reason that a lot of Police sharp shooters use "700 series" rifles is because they are a "piece of crap"? Sorry pal but the 700 is one of the most proven rifles out there. Maybe your problem is operator error, it usually is with claims such as yours.
-

There is nothing wrong with the size of deer.....that is why he is legal. I would have no problem showing my face with any legal deer....no matter the size.
I just noticed my last post has a comment quote from you as well. 1st one saying the REM modell 700's didn't do very well and his gun is a piece of crap..........and now slamming the size of a perfectly legal deer. WTH I see nothing but B.S. in both of those comments.
I too wish I had read the story.
-
Remington didn't do well with the 700 series.
Your kidding right? The 700 is an awesome gun. You must mean something else.
-
the meat was on the stump better than being in the dirt...
Carry a game bag/pillow case if you're going to "quarter" it. Or use the back of the hide you just skinned off, use your pack that you're going to carry it out in, use an emergency blanket, etc. Anything to keep it clean and off the dirt/stumps/etc.
Remington didn't do well with the 700 series.
Your kidding right? The 700 is an awesome gun. You must mean something else.
Maybe he meant the 770s? Not sure if that is what is pictured but I've heard bad things on the 770s. The 700s on the other hand are good guns.
-

I was just thinking that too, I live on the westside but know where around 460 thank god... :chuckle: who is this guy :dunno: :chuckle:.. He is pretty funny, I have become a fan Mastertracker, your posts got me laughin a little bit.. I would love to hear some more of your hunting adventures!... :P

Is that scope eye? :bfg:
-
Funny yet sad how someone starts a thread to announce theyre kill and regardless of the facts, gets jumped on by other members. Quick nitpicking other peoples hunts and get out in the field or do something productive.
:twocents:

Ease up fellas he's from Seattle....its par for the course :twocents:
-
:'( :dunno: :bash: :o :bdid: I like your Browning hat!!! Don't really know what else to say...

What I meant by the 700 series is the 710 (shown in the picture) and the 770, the bolts are very loose, binding and get stuck, whereas with the 700 itself does not get stuck but smooth. I owned one of the 710 models and ended up selling it, because it is straight JUNK and ended up buying the 770 which is better than the 710 but still has bolt issues and double feeds rounds quiet often. The 700 (remington model 7)( seven) "Police use"to clarify on the other hand is a well built gun and has a smooth bolt and does not double feed like the 710 and 770; which is not shooter error. The 770 will shoot accurate but the bolt has alot of "play" and that causes the bolt locking pin to sheer or get worn down and sometimes comes out of the receiver with it locked in place, another common problem with the 710 and 770 is that the bolt latch inside near the handle is plastic so easy to get worn out and break leading to a totally non firing gun which in turn is useless and remington will not fix it. So I hope that is clarification enough. I still wouldn't have shot a buck that small, kind of an ethic of mine so, tu che to you sir. . . . .
-
Congrats on a successful hunt. Wish I could have read the whole story. Did he state his rifle was a Remington? Looks a bit like a Howa to me.
-
People forget that the safety on a gun, like any other mechanical device, can fail. I wouldn't trust my safety to keep an 8 oz trigger from turning over :twocents:
-
The thread that wouldn't die. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :hello:
-

Well you've stated which models you are talking about but just to clarify I'd revise your interpretation of the statement "the 700 series", almost anyone would assume that includes the 700 which you aren't including in your mind. Probably best to just specify the 710/770 in the future (and I don't think anyone is really going to argue on the statements you made about those ;)).
-
yeah and thats another thing some guys take thier safety off when they walk in the woods sounds like this gun could go anytime too dangerous give him 1 shell too carry in his pocket and if he sees something he can go for it
-
Ease up fellas he's from Seattle....its par for the course :twocents:
Really?!?! ???

REALLY! >:(

Yea , then we can call him barney fife
-
Is that scope eye? :bfg:
I was gonna post the same thing when I got to the end. I believe he did scope himself. :chuckle:
At a half a pound I guess he wasn't ready.
-
buck fever from the 4x5 but yes the spike got a hoof in before going out :chuckle:
-
That deer actually looks like the ones they shoot in germany.
-
Thats funny it does it looks like a roe buck if it was it would be a 2x2 for the nubs :chuckle:
-
Wow you guys are harsh. Knocking the guys gun and his deer? Hope you all never shoot a dink or have to settle with an inexpensive gun. Been there done that myself in my younger years. I think you all need to cut a little slack now.
-
How come Iceman hasnt chimed in?????????
-
he is probably still over on his hunt with his kids permits.
but honestly guys don't you think it is enough... the guy posts a story and report just to get bashed.. non stop we hear post pics, we want story then BLAM.. he gets hit with 20 questions from gun to hunter orange.
i bet we all have something (a pic or something) that others would or could find questionable in (their opinion.)
but we should encourage people to post and give their stories AND if others want to help with advise or comments then do it in a constructive manor and not make a guy not want to ever post again.
that is just my :twocents:
good luck to all this year.. i'm taking my 10 year old on his first deer hunt this weekend.. can't wait.
:IBCOOL:
-
jesus, i dont really have anything to say that hasnt already been said, but what the f!#k! thats just proof that some people have no concept of game management! i would have been embarassed to shoot that when i was a little kid! thats just me ;)
-
well i dont know what too say but where does the roasting of a weiner fit into all this .the very first pic i think thats kinda odd :dunno:
-
First spike I've ever seen boned out. A friend of ours, 49 at the time shot a little spike back when spike muley's were legal, several miles back in the hills. He threw it on his back and walked it out. Have to say I would do the same, I've only taken one deer I couldn't get out whole solo. Other than that, I guess congrats, if a spike was your goal early in the season, then you met your goal.
-

I agree. I felt a bit compelled to address the potential ethics/safety issues, but I have no interest in attacking his choice in rifle, or for shooting a legal, tender meat, good eating buck. I think a lot of us lose some of the good natured fun of the hunt when we switch to "trophy only". I know I've let it get too serious in the past. He's obviously got some of it right. He's got meat. I think some changes here and there might help him out, that's all. I think we could all benefit from some advice from time to time. I certainly have. Best of luck to him, and the rest of you.
