I was making fun of all the guys hunting the Yakima river next to Roza on Saturday. It was almost a parking lot and there was orange everywhere. I had trouble finding a spot to pull over to glass sheep. I was laughing becasue I had never even seen a deer there before. I made some smartass remark to my wife. Move ahead 48 hours. I am glassing sheep with Lil Bone. We go to get back in the truck and I happen to glance up and here is a buck standing 35 yards above the road on the hill looking at me. LOL meanwhile A dozen or so rigs were scouring the river for a buck.

here was another snapper in the rocks......

I was one of those idiots on the river opening day. I have never seen so much orange in such a small space in my life. Just reminded me why I dislike the WA deer opener so much. Anything that has the unfortunate luck of sprouting a 1" eyeguard was having lead thrown it's way. I also respect everyone's opinion on their own definition of a trophy. I was also hunting with family that just wanted venison on the table. Right on.
I guess I wouldn't have a problem with other people, if common sense and ethics were at the forefront. Nothing like taking your time and glassing at first light, just to have someone sprint in front of you to beat you to "their" spot. >:( I called him over and asked him how he would like it if the shoe was on the other foot. Don't think he caught my drift. The lack of ethics in our sport is frustrating. Introducing my 5 year old son to the sport and this was a teachable moment.
Sorry to hijack the thread. I know, I know... I feel a "go find another spot" response coming my way :) Unfortunately this is in my backyard and I spend lots of time out there year around fishing, chasing coyotes and chukars. All I'm asking for is a little respect. Never know when we might cross paths again and you need my help.
-
Not a hijack at all. It was CRAZY. I couldn't believe it. I can only imagine Sheep Co was the same way as they pushed all the sheep into the country(steep rocks) in just one day. Even last night there were alot of guys road hunting the pavement, and little boats crossing with hunter ornage in them. so can assume they saw something. I couldn't believe I saw the two bucks.

That is funny stuff. Those poor deer dont stand a chance :lol4:
-
That canyon hunt is getting a reputation... :chuckle:
-
Im from selah I will not even drive up there during rifle season it just pisses me off, Look at big pines campground the night before opening it is crazy how many people are up there. And you cant pay eaton anymore because reds flyshop has all the hunting rights now, You gotta pay to hunt coyotes now up there. if your a good enough hunter and you can shoot a bow its a good spot to hunt with not to many people
-
Had to go to selah sat am for work. Driving from eburg to selah I couldnt believe how many people there were in the canyon. Didnt see a lot of orange, but the water-whippers were out in force. On the bank and in boats. I am assuming that the big horse camps were hunters? Did see a couple of horse riders with orange, west side of river, a couple of miles up the river from big pines.

i here you guys i was up hunting the dipin vat and had a green ford truck road hunting shoot a buck from his truck didnt have any disable tags i was trying to get the same buck and was there when it was light to bad there are so many lazy old men that couldnt get out of the truck and shoot it .it happend 2 times this year.and i love it when road hunters keep driveing back and forth in your area but thats ok i think a box of nails is in order for elk season. :spank_butt: :mor: >:(

Some *censored* coasty tard,
Why is there always someone that's got to pull the coasty crap?
Makes me laugh...a lot.
What makes you so smart?
Apparently road hunting from your truck then getting pissed off because someone pulls up next to you and shoots your road hunted deer makes you the smart one.
Missed that in hunter's ed.
-
I just want to throw this out there. I AM A COASTY TARD! Whatever! Location of ones residence does not make one retarded or smart. There are stupid people that live everywhere! And if you are a "local" I would think that you could find a good out of the way location to get away from all of us "tards"! Whatever you tool! keep on thinking you are better.
-
I love the local hate - it keeps the heat off me. When I moved from Pennsylvania to New Hampshire, had no issues with the locals - but they sure hated the M*censored*s from down south. Moved to Wyoming, no flack from the natives - but they sure despised the Greenies from Colorado. Moved to Wenatchee, no flack from the locals - but they sure piss and moan about the Coasties (it's so much fun, I do it myself sometimes).
It's always easier to pretend the tards play for the other team. :chuckle:

:chuckle: good one double.
I dont go around calling people names very often....i guess I had my button pushed. :chuckle:

Seattlites stand out over here kinda like boys from Twisp stand out in Seattle especially during rush hour. :)

I killed a buck once in the wenas very near a camp, the guys from the camp were all from the west side and didnt know me from Adam, they helped me dress and drag the buck to the road and were just as happy for me as if I were one of theyre own! Good guys are good guys dosent matter where thyre from. same goes for bad guys.
-
Not sure where this place is at,but as bigtine96 refereed to,I go bow hunting.
I haven't hunted deer for a few years and decide to try again but with a bow.
I hunted all by myself. No other people around.1/2 mile from town.
Then I went scouting for late elk and was skeered to get out of the truck.
Trucks and hunter everywhere.Lots of guys out of work and lot of time to hunt.
Some will be real hungry,so watch your back.
LOL at the respect comment.Yeah right. They don't teach that any more.

In the canyon? come on man...there's probably more people from this side of the mountains in the canyon on any given day.
-
p.s. you're only a very short distance from the west side when you're in the canyon. It's kinda like when someone who lives on the pass or in Cle Elum bitches about the other side of the mountains. Geez man, it's only like an hour away.

Yeah your right Bone. Not many people over here glass the median while in bumper to bumper traffic!
