Ok I see 18 people have taken a look at my AR. Wipe the drool out of your keyboard and post up some of your own. I wish I had some pics of my other rifles but this is the only one I have stored on this computer.  :IBCOOL:

These are the two I use the most. The green AR is a decked out Stag 6.8 lefty with White Oak barrel and a Acog. The Tan AR is a custom build with a Wilson match grade barrel and Young MFG BCG built on Superior arms receivers with a Aimpoint on top. Both rifles have been Duracoated (obviously)  :P

Yes I do have alot into it. About $3800 including 300 rounds of ammo and 20 magpul 30 round magazines. Will probably sell it though for around $2700 when I come home for R&R in March. I have found I am a impulse buyer. My wife tells me I have enough toys so thin them out and put the money into our recreation property.  :dunno:

My wife is a woman of very few wants. Her biggest want is for me to be happy. She has made me happy for 15 years. The rec property is my biggest Toy. Quad and motorcycle were stolen 2 weeks before I came back over here. I couldn't stand not having my bike. She told me to go get another one. I did. I love my wife.

When most AR geeks know what they mean, I think it would just be a pain in the a** to have to spell out things like Advanced Armament Corporation, Lewis Machine and Tool, Defense Procurement Manufacturing Services, Compact / Type Restricted... :o

Good looking AR's guys!

Hey GreyWolf...fancy seeing you here.  I'm probably going to go with the EMOD.  FC, as for my Nikon scope, I've only taken it to the range once...so far I like it.  But I need to find a range further out...I've only thrown lead out to 100yds so far.

The field of view is good, but I've only run it at 2-4x so far.  The glass is nice and clear, with a sharp reticle.  The Nikon Prostaff I'm running doesn't have the BDC reticle, just the standard Nikon reticle, but it's good.  The windage and elevation adjustments are 1/4 MOA clicks and are pretty sharp.  I switched between slow and rapid fire and she held up zero.  My next trip to the range will determine is she held zero since I removed and reinstalled it.

Seriously, where does a guy have to go to get a 200 yard zero, anybody know? Shooting at 50 is okay but a true 200 on paper would be nice to find.

Here are a few of my AR's-
This first one is a 18" Bison Armory, Mega Arms with side charging upper, it is sitting with my 16" Noveske Switch-block, Noveske, both are 6.8's
(https://hunting-washington.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi868.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fab241%2F68GreyWolf%2F68%2520Forum%2FSDC10759.jpg&hash=a2501f0e646437da41c206ad1928d993c30acd04)

These are my .223's.
This is a Daewoo (Korean) from Kimber out of Clackamas, OR at the time. GREAT piston rifle, takes the standard AR magazine. I had to put a bunch of US parts in it, would love to take it out for coyotes. The next one is my 16" LaRue Stealth / Olympic Arms.

Marysville Rifle Club has a rifle range out to 200yd, I think maybe even 300yds? But if you are not a member I think there are only a few times a year on weekends and mid-week days when they allow the general public. I dont know when that is but you can check on their website. Kenmore also has a member only range out to 300yds but I dont know if they ever have public sight-in allowed on that. I know that doesnt do us public shooters alot of good but at least there are a few days if you catch it at the right time.... :twocents:

Yes both lowers are made by Aero, picked them up from SAA.  They are of decent quality for a build.  Both have DPMS trigger kits (I would prefer a Daniel Defense LPK).  One was assembled by a friend at SAA and the other was assembled by myself, the build went together easy and I haven't encountered any problems relating to out of spec parts.  The finish is decent and comparable to my old Bushmaster but not as nice as Colt or the higher line of AR lower makers, but for the price you really can't beat it.  Another lower that I would suggest would be Spikes Tactical, if I had the option of doing it all over again I would have chosen a Spikes or Daniel Defense lower.  Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply. I was leaning towards a Mega or Spikes, but found a website selling 3 Aero's for $220 and thought about putting a few in the safe. It's just the lower, as long as everything fits right I don't care. It's what's on top that matters.

Bushmaster Varmint 24" Vortex scope
Hey that's almost as nice as your Uncle Lyle's SR-556.

I have been bitten!  Started out as a DPMS Panther Bull 20" with A2 stock and a JP trigger.  Now has an LMT lower that I had traded a bow for.  Switched the trigger over because I like the way the LMT fit the upper better.

What rings/scope are you using?

those are nice but i prefer the old school military look that and a scope don't help much for home defense my AR looks exactly like the cheaper than dirt sticker ones other than a laser mount on the handle, just point and shoot, now that i have this one i will be getting one for predator hunting they are super versatile. not dissing your ar's they are awesome.

i was talking with a couple contractors the other day running a pair of H&K full autos with 14inch barrels 12 inch rails, eotechs, rotating rear peep sight and flip up front sight. With the collapsable stock they whole rig was super short.

I was drooling.

They are Burris rings and the scope is just one of those cheap Simmons Whitetail Classics that Midway has on sale all the time.  It is a 6-20 I believe and not too bad of a scope for the $$.

For the most part a lower is just a lower, the only thing that will truly separate them are the finish and minor features.  At least to me, and for the price Aero is hard to beat and you are supporting a local manufacture, Aero is a Washington based factory.

Well depends on the sight.  A red dot in my opinion is the best thing that you can have for close to medium range and I use it extensively.  A low powered fixed or variable zoom scope that is made with both longer and close range shooting like the Trijicon ACOG or Short Dot do just fine in CQB/CQM shooting.  A laser at any range but the range that you zero it at will have a different POI compared to the POA due to the offset of the laser to the bore, sometimes that can mean a shot outside the sweet spot or even worse a miss.  That and the limitations of the laser concerning to the environmental conditions, to bright can't see, dark and a visible laser might have well been a tracer.  Used both IR and visible, like the IR but given the chance I would rather aim down a sight than rely on it.  Also one thing that isn't pictured on my AR's is a tac light, would not clear a room without one being available.

Here's my new upper.  It's an 18" AR Stoner barrel on a Bravo Company receiver in .50 Beowulf.  Talk about a heart pounding experience when you start pulling the trigger!

Man...not bad for a stickflinger.
Talk about polar opposites.

Ballistics of a .50 Beowulf are similar to a .45-70.  Hits harder than a .30-06 to 100 yds then falls off from there.  With a 100 yard zero it's like 11" low at 200 and 22" at 250, but it still packs enough horsepower to take down pretty much anything on the planet: at least enough for anything I need to shoot.  I'm hoping to shoot a spring bear with my bow, but I'd also like to see what the Beowulf can do.  Any hunting stories I've seen online have been one shot kills on everything up to moose.
