Last year an AS HE LAYS topic was started in the Deer section. I can't remember if there was ever one in the elk section and I don't see one this year, so I thought I'd start one. Let me know if this thread already exists in here. Anyways, lets see everyone's pictures of their elk this year as you found him or her I guess, when you walked up to them. I'll start it off.
Because my 2010 Washington bull is not in the freezer yet, here's my 2010 Montana archery bull.

That's a great shot - still has a little milk on the corner of its mouth :chuckle:

Well do we want to bring that one back up to the top and get rid of this one? I can rename this one as "2010 As He Lays" so all the pics will/should be of this years animals. Any thoughts/suggestions? Can I remove this entire post by myself or does a moderator have to do it?

WA Backcountry Archery Bulls
First is my bull that almost slid off a big bluff (we wouldn't have found him if he had!) The second is of a 7x6 that my hunting partner killed on the last weekend of the archery season.

.338 210 grn. noslers

Always wondered how a 338 with a 210 would do, or the 225 accubonds. Looks like they work well!

Dude where's the story man. You can't post pictures of some Backcountry bulls without a story. That's just wrong. You had some great bulls from last year and a really good post. I'm stuck in SE Alabama and other than Afghanistan don't know when I'll be able to get into the high country again. So until that day I live through stories of others. So could you bare minimum send me a PM of you story????

Thanksgiving day elk. Made the family wait 3 hours for dinner...oops. 1st archery elk. 30 yard shot and she only went 50 yards and tipped over.
-
FullDraw i must say that is one of the best shot placements! Good work :cue:
-
Thats funny, i had to miss thanksgiving last year since it took us all day to pack out my elk and this year i was 3 hours late to dinner. Oh well rather be packin meat than eat dinner :chuckle:

She was totoally broadside when I took the shot. The arrow broke a rib in half and deflected to her opposite back ham. One of here lungs was centerpunched though. When I removed the arrow the broadhead was gone so I had to be extra carefull gutting her. Once she was hanging I was able to get the broadhead. It was buried in here ham. Didn't ruin much meat though. I shoot G5 Strikers 100grain. All the blades were still intact and unbroken. Thanks guys.
