I will start in reverse order here.
About 11am my dad and I are trying to put a 3rd point on a BIG 2 point when we notice it is standing next to what we think is a gut pile. After the 2point moves along we go in for a closer look. It is a boned out deer. Now I have never boned a deer out BUT this sure looked wasteful to me!
-
Ya, I wouldn't call that "boned out" as much as I would just call it "Chunks Out"......Meaning they took the bigger parts and left the rest....basically they were in too big of a hurry or to lazy to bone out the rest of it!
-
there is alot meat left on that some body was in a big hurry to get out of there
-
I havent had to bone out any deer, but that looks like alot of waste ???

10 am..... my dad and I are working our way through the sage brush when gun shots are heard fairly close....1 shot, 2 shots... I put up my binos in the direction that they were coming from...I see 2 hunters, one with Binoculars looking towards me.....the other with a rifle pointed what looks to be right at me! BOOM!!!!! The bullet ricocheted VERY close to me! I ran for the backside of the small finger we were on....The best I could figure was he was shooting at the top of the small hump 100 yards in front of me.....which was a good 400 plus yards away from them! I watched as their glassed to the right following something then just walked off down the hill. *censored*S!

That is a waste! They did not take the time to effectively bone the deer out. A properly cared for animal will leave very little red meat visible.

7am. This is the crappiest part...
First light arrives. My dad and I are sitting underneath a pine tree waiting to ambush an unsuspecting buck....if one should walk by. Right off the bat 5 deer within range. 2 bucks both are small. The light is still low so I could not get a great look at one of them. They feed out to about 5-6 hundred yards away. I tell my dad we will soon find out if the one was a 3 because they were feeding by a guy on the ridge across from us. Sure enough he unloads 4 rounds at about 745. I am watching through my binos as he scrambles down to find the deer. He starts poking around.....I see the deer get up and make it 10 yards before he beds again. The guy is not more than 10 yards from it! This happens another 2 times! Then I swear this guy is standing over it and nothing......the guy disappears never to be seen again. over the next half hour the deer gets up 2 or three more times barely making it 5 or 10 yards before he beds again. It is obvious he is not doing well. My dad and I slowly work our way back to where we saw the deer last. I told my dad I know that this is a 2 point........sure enough! *censored*ing *censored*! I had told my dad that if it was a 2point we would call fish and game before doing anything. I talked to Cal and he said to leave it for the coyotes....after telling him it was gut shot and being persistent he told us to go ahead and put it down. Cal was too far away to recover it.
We were 5 yards from it when my dad put a round between his eyes. I got choked up and blurry eyed.....a real waste! This deer deserved better!

What a shame! :bash: This is the second thread today with wasted deer... >:(

Did you try and confront these guys? I would have shoved my rifle in someone's backside!

the only thing you should do is get as much info about the 2 hunters as you can and report it to the proper authorities asap

I was going to yell some obscenities in their direction. Give them the finger, etc..... but really what good would that have done? I could have taken the time out of my day to go tell someone off that is most likely going to go in one ear and out the other.....I guess the best thing for me to do is to go deeper and farther into the woods where I wont have to deal with them next time.

>:( >:( >:( Here we go again.. :bash: :bash: :bash:

That's why I am not a fan of the 3 point minimum rule. This stuff happens way too much.
