This is my 7 year old son with his 2nd deer. Last year he harvested a doe & this year he finally got his buck   He made an outstanding 525yrd shot with my 300rum to put this buck in the freezer & on the wall. I could not of been prouder as a father than i was that day 8) 8). Thanks Ross@Aaron

That picture is awesome..put that baby on the wall for sure,,and nice shooting little man..nice shooting

Nice buck, and great shot. Just curious, he doesn't look like a big kid, how did he fit your stock to make that shot? Serious question, not giving you crap. My little guy is on the small side but reads and comprehends well enough at 7 to pass hunter safety so I am curious about him fitting a rifle. He kind of leans over the .22, but it does not kick.

The smile on his face is what its all about,Great buck.
-
That was a great shot for a great kid, congratulations Austin!!! I know your dad was so proud! What a great weekend for us!! Here is to many more succesfull years :brew:

Here is another pic of austin & his buck

525 yard shot by a 7 year old?
-
Great job. Love the big smile on the first pic. Looks like a Christianson Arms? Good shot.

525 yard shot by a 7 year old?
:dunno: Hello? Is he a Army Sniper? Or is DAD?
-
Austin is only able to make a sitting shot. He has to use his middle finger to reach the trigger. He also spends a lot of time at the shooting range through out the summer shooting 5 and 6 hundred yard targets. My son is 110% legit. Practice and optics make the difference.
-
:bfg: NICE!!! :chuckle: :chuckle:

Great Job Dad and to you too Austin! Great Buck!

I can take someone who has never shot a rifle before and have them shooting 5" rings at 500 yards within 5 shots. Most of it is optics, load and barrel. Practice only adds to the consistancy. Good job to the kid. I love seeing kids in the field. I can't wait till my daughter is old enough. Only about 5 years to go.
-
Very nice Austin! Congrats on a fine buck! Nice job Dad for letting him take that shot.
-
It was an outstanding shot, the gun is a custom 300 RUM, with an 8x32x56 Nightforce, handloads and a great kid who practices with dad all the time. Totally legit, I can't wait for next year!!! Way to go Austin :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL:
-
I'm utterly speechless... :)
-
I hope the military pics him up and pays for school. At the rate he's going my taxidermy bill is going to break me. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
congrats :IBCOOL:
-
That's pretty neat.
Cute, the first pic he's smiling and the other one is like
Yeah just another day at the office,do this all the time.
Great times
-
I can't get past the 7 year old that regularly shoots a 300RUM, I don't care how far the shot was. That kid's a maniac.
-
Nice shooting and buck.
what kind of muzzle break? is that what allows him to shoot it?
-
if hes going to the range cool. :dunno:
-
Good grief, I'm behind the power curve with my 2 sons, then. I was just glad my boy could tell the difference between an elk and a deer :o
-
wow very nice
-
very cool
-
Great pic! Nice shooting kid!
-
Wow! I hope the military is aware of his skill. He should get a free ride! One disciplined kid to shoot a 300rum at all, let alone 500+ yards! Congrats!
-

Your in trouble for sure..The bucks within 600 yds better be worried too. :chuckle:
-
How did you keep the Custom 300UM from kicking Austin bad. What do they do to it to reduce recoil.. I have one and there is a difference between it and a .243 for example. Did you haul out a caldwell lead sled?...LOL. Just curious. I have some friends with sore shoulders after shooting my .300UM. Mine isn't custom however.. Buncha weinies!
-
Great job ;) And nice shot!!! I wouldn't question it at all. I have 5 daughters and started them at age 8. We would pratice and I always said to them you will never feel the gun kick when you shoot a deer. And after there first deer the first thing they would say to me is, "you were right, it didn't kick."
-
Nice buck and great shot...
... but i just dont see how a 7 year old kid can handle the recoil of a 300RUM, i know it has a break but still :o

Maybe he has an older brother who beats him harder then then that gun. :chuckle:

-
Wow, excellent deer, and as others have said EXTREMELY impressive shot from the 7 year old.(heck I don't think I could have made it to be honest) Dad prepping him fior sniper school early or something? ;)
-
awesome deer, nice to see the little guys get one. He will be hooked for life.
-
