After getting "SHUTOUT" for our Early Elk Tags and only seeing Big Boys and Girls with a spike tag in hand, We are still in need for ELK Meat to get the Family though the winter.. Has any one seen any elk in the 200 series GMU? We are not asking for directions to there bedding areas, Just a GMU #. I live in the southwest Corner and its a long trip for Scouting !! I am willing to trade some HOT Fishing Holes for any info.......... Thanks in Advanced TTD

If you need meat for the winter why not stay home and use the money you would have spent on gas on meat from Safeway instead? Seriously it really isn't worth a trip over there to hunt elk in Okanogan or Chelan counties. Look at the harvest report. You'll see they killed maybe 5 elk out of those areas last year, at best.

I'm with Bobcat. It's absolutely not worth spending the gas money driving to those units if you could be using to buy groceries. There's virtually no elk over there.

Alpine, Mission and East Okanogan have elk that I know of..Maybe a place to start. But if you are concerned about fuel costs then it sounds like the decision has already been made. buy a 1/4 of a beef and a case of beer..I'll chase the elk! :chuckle:

Mission is not open. I don't think Alpine is but if it is good luck getting in there during the late muzzleloader season! Don't know about East Okanogan but I'd say your chance of killing an elk there is about as good as seeing bigfoot.

:chuckle: Now that is telling it like it is

I used to tell guys not to go there unless they had a bear tag. Far better to go hunt bear during that season, and if by some miracle an elk is seen, shoot it. I've seen elk in 245 (ONCE), 247 (ONCE), and 250 (ONCE). I wouldn't waste an hour or a tank of gas hoping to tag one, I've easily spent 500 hours for every elk sighting I've had in these GMUs.

Sorry didn't read regs..your correct alpine and mission off limits for general late muzzy. I have seen elk in 204. But it is tough. Slim pickins.. I guess Ritzville is the place!
