This old 9X10 mule deer rack was found in an attic after some roof repair, been hibernating for about 40 years that we can determine. It has a metal USF Game Permit tag number 13456, any way of finding the history with that info assuming it's a Wa. St. buck? When did they do away with metal tags? Would like to find an appropriate mount for it. Thanks, Lon

If only every first poster brought a trashy buck to gawk at - welcome, great find. I have a couple old blacktail racks that I picked up in Chehalis that both have metal tags dated 1946. Not sure when the they first moved away from the metal tags. I have two elk racks with 1958 or 62 (can't remember) yellow fabric tags, so my guess is between '47-'60.

Didn't know if this rack and thread would be welcomed or not here since I did not bring the buck down myself, thanks 4 all the encouragement! I do hunt but would never be so lucky as to stumble on to something like this. Last week I took it into Dan Yedinack taxidermy in Wenatchee for a look see, he says he counts it as a 10X12 non typical. He had several hides to choose from but it's hard to pick out a nice one "after the fact". I just told him to find a nice mature, gnarly old buck cape and mount it up half shoulder with a right hand twist! Should have it by X-mas, Will post pic's if you like. Still looking for info on tag. Again, didn't know how you guys would take to an attic find BUT I knew it had to be brought back to life so to speak. Thanks, Lon

Very cool! Dan will do a nice job for you. He did my last deer mount and it turned out great!
Still interested in where that tag is from.

What a trasher! Nice horns...
Gonna have to take some pics of the horns we have around the ranch, have some back from the 30s, gnarly knotty suckers, love the metal plates.
Welcome!
