2009 blacktail buck> 2nd largest 3x3 typical ever taken, scored 134 and is now in the Boone & Crockett books. This one was taken with only 1 hour left on the last day of late rifle season.

I would brag too. :chuckle:
-
That is a monster 3 point. Has he ever seen the buck before the season?
-
What an incredible animal!!! :o :yike:  :chuckle:
Reminds me of Cameron Hanes big 3x3 blacktail he took down in Oregon a few years ago!
-
More pictures please. Show us the mount on the wall he keeps bragging about. That thing is heavy duty, got an eyeguard rubbed down to the nub. Wow. Washington?
-
Holy freaking balls!!!! I think that is one of the coolest blacktails I have seen. What a buck of a lifetime. Thanks for posting.
-
what a stud!

Impressive
-
Who needs a 4th point, lol. Way to go he's a stud of a buck!!
-
That is a big 3!
-
Yeah..washington...a coastie buck. Never saw him pre-season, regular season, or any years prior (he hunts the same area each year). The buck came out of the deep timber for the late rut. He shot him him only steps away from the tree line. Sorry no pics of the wall mount...I work on that.
-
Dang! What a blacktail!

-
This is my 2007 Blacktail, he's a 3x3 and scores 138 6/8th nets 132 6/8ths where does he place ? I didn't know there was a catagory for 3 pts. Killer Blacktail you got.
-
holy chit thats a biggun!!
-
Are you feeding these guys growth hormones? Man alive those are some big bucks. Great post!
-
:o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o
-
Awesome buck...killer 3x3.
I never heard of special classification for 3 points either.
:dunno:
-
Nice 3x3 yourself BLR 243! You should get that registered if you can still do so. I'd guess 132 6/8 net should be right up there in top 5 considering 134 net was #2. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but it is my understanding B&C does not have a "category"for 3x3. However, the points are listed along with the scores and 134 is now the second largest the 3x3 in the books.
-
Yeah there's no categories....it's net score and thats it. So are you saying that your 134" buck is the #2 blacktail in the B/C books?
-
Nope (see my 12:47pm reply). Not sure what the largest is...I'd guess pushing 200.
-
I understand what you're saying now.
Thanks.
-
I have seen plenty of bigger 3 points that are bigger than that, the book states total points on a side so if your only looking at 3x3 you may be looking at 2 points with eyeguards, some of the 4x4's in the book are 3 points with eyeguards. Something to think about.
Not trying to take away from your buck though. I know of an Oregon Blacktail that was a 3 point that netted I think 170. Its in the book.
-
Wow, 170 for a 3 is huge!! Other things to consider are species of blacktail (columbia/western/sitka..also there are the BT-Muley cross breeds <not sure what/how they classify those>) and state specific records. Mabye this buck was 2nd B/C Washington only (again it was not my buck). You should post a pic of that 170 if you have it. :-)

Top 3 Blacktails of all-time B/C
#1 - 182 2/8 Lester Miller, Lewis County, Washington, 1953
#2 - 175 2/8 Clem Coughlin, Mendocino County, California, 1981
#3 - 172 2/8 B.G. Shurtleff, Marion County, Oregon, 1969

Taken this year in WA.
-
I am pretty sure both of the Diamond's bucks are Vail bucks
-
I just knew prehistoric blktail bucks excist :o :o   :chuckle: Incredible !!
-
My 3x3 blacktail is in the book as a 4x5, due to double eyeguards on one side, and single on the other.
-
Great thread keep those monster blacktails comming while I get a towel to mop up my drool lol.

Correct, the score is the score and it will place relative to other deer, regardless of scorable antler points. If all the other bucks that score higher have more than 3 scorable points per side, then you could claim a buck is #__ as a 3x3, or the highest scoring 3x3 entered in the book, recording period, etc.
Personally, the score means little when you're talking mature blacktails. They are hard to come by and all hold a special place in the hearts of hunters lucky and/or skilled enough to harvest them. :twocents:
-
The only true 3x3 listed in Boone Crockett 12th Edition scores 136 3/8 and was harvested in Clallam Co.,Wa in 1953 by Bill Wilder.
-
Hey Drew good to see you on here, thats a smoker BT and a true coastal blacktail too. How would it feel to have a chance at that monster and miss..... oh ya ask your bro in law he knows! :'( Sorry couldn't resist. I will email you a pic of my buck from this year, you will like it. We leave for Colorado for a deer hunt in the am so chat later. Scott/ nwhunter
-
Nice looking buck I think my spike from this year was about 6 B@C :chuckle: And my last years 2pt was 41 B@C :chuckle: So good looking buck :o
-
I know the guy who shot this buck. It was on the oly peninsula. That is a monster for that area. Good job.
-
Looks like the 2nd 3x3 will be added in the 2010 B&C edition also from Clallam County, representin' for sure. :chuckle: It's a monster BT for any area not just the oly pen. Sup Scott!
-
don't let them get you down awesome buck. :chuckle:
