went out this afternoon with fellow HuntWa member Ellensburg initially for some quail with my 1.5 yrs old black lab. No quail to be found so tried this waterfowl spot and managed to drop a bufflehead. This was my first duck of the year, also this was my dogs first live retrieve ever! This is her second season hunting but last year we did not get a lot of chances to hunt so she is still inexperienced. The dog swam out to the duck a few times and got a little freaked out because the duck was crippled and kept coming back. So I added a couple shots to put the duck down. Finally after a few tries the dog came back with the duck, couldnt be happier with her right now. Thanks again to Ellensburg for taking me to his spot!
didnt have a camera for a field shot, but here she is with her first duck

You will have to shoot some more, so the pup can get the taste of the butterball out of its mouth. :chuckle: Congrats, good looking dog.
