Today while prepping my elk camp location (clearing some brush ect.) i came across a silicone female "mid-section" and trust me it had all the parts and orfaces. I just thought i would share this with you all and i also wondered if i should post this in the lost and found section? :)
-
a cougar skeleton. skull was complete with only 1 canine missing (lost in the dirt). young, smaller cat, found near a stream (sick?) close to homes (no, they didn't ever see it)
-
i hope you left it alone elkslayer :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
Thanks, I was wondering where I left her.
-
While hunting with my boys this past week we found these..The skull is not a deer young or old but have no idea other then that.. The other looks like a leg trap but has no teeth to hold a animal and I can't for the best of how you would set it.. JAMNG
-
my dad and i found a backpack, in it was three 24oz hurricane high gravitys, ( i believe that was the name). a dirty magazine, a bottle of lube, a small pair of panties, and a towel. then we also found in there a check book, the only checks written from it were to the department of corrections. it was kinda creepy and kinda funny all at once.
-
That's a connibear trap, scissor open against the spring to set, then place in a trail and when an animal goes thru and springs it, it whacks them, breaking neck/spine, etc. Very lethal on muskrat in the small sizes (110, etc), and beaver in the big size (330).
To set it, compress the spring (the triangle part) enough to scissor/spread the jaws (square parts) 90 degrees. When the jaws are in the "set" position, take the notched dog on top and secure it into the trigger (the wire prongs are missing from yours but they would normally extend several inches down the trigger). The trap is set upright in a trail (rodent run in this case) and held in place with sticks or stakes. Make sure the sticks used to hold it up are strong enough to hold it when an animal runs into it, so they don't knock it over. Also make sure the sticks don't interfere with it snapping shut. Be very careful, even this small one could probably brake your hand.
PS: You'd probably want to take a wire brush to it before setting it. Ans without the wire extensions on the trigger, it's almost impossible to catch anything.
PSS: Depending where you got this trap, you may have taken it illegally. Traps out in the woods are not generally free for the taking.

There's been a few of these posts come up every now and then. They're so interesting!

And they wonder why us women don't feel safe in the woods alone..... :o :o

Hahaha. Good point. Sometime us men don't feel safe in the woods, either. :yike:

The trap I found was buried under a ton of pine needles and was only visible by a small piece of the chain. Its very rusty and looked like it has been there for many many years. If I thought it was in use or someones I would never have taken it. It was obvious to me that it was lost and there for many years..

Was the trap 'locked and loaded?' That'd have been a bad one to step on.
-
Creepy people looking for creepie things is the creepiest things i've seen...... :con:
-
No the trap was not loaded. Its so rusty I think it would break if you tried to set it. Its very old and rusty and was buried under pine needles... And if you think a Dad and his two boys out in the woods hunting deer is creepy then you must be one of those that voted for patty and obama.. You would probably be be happy with no guns no hunting and just stay at home and receive your check from the government...
-
I don't think anything is creepy with a Dad and his two boys spending time in the woods...
:dunno:
-
Jam, I in no way meant you or anyone on this post, I meant one toofed, one leg draggin, slurred speeched weirdo's carrying a six pack of Busch Ice askin "have ya seen anything" type guys...

I found some fishy things in the capitol forest in olympia, there was a ratty purse a black sock and what looked to be a makeshift shack from rope and sheets and also found a trail leading to bones; dont know if they were human or not but someone had been digging in that area. Oh yeah there was also a pile of logs with a sheet over it a little further down. I wanted to report it but my buddy convinced me it was a deer carcass but I still to this day am not sure. Kinda makes me wonder, I looked for a skull and couldn't find one but did make out a piece of a hip and what looked to be a femur of something. Possibly a deer but ill never know.

We actually found a Weather balloon up in the staircase area once. We couldn't figure out what the heck it was cause it was caught in a tree. Well we got it out and down to the ground after about 3 hours and it had a label and everything of what it was and how to contact the weather service to have them come pick it up.
-
my buddie has found two rifles , one a 22 and the other a nice 7mm . he left a note and no one ever replied. I just find deer and elk .
-
My "wierdest" find was a plane crash up in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. Pieces scattered for a few hundred yards down the mountain. Could find no human remains. Took down the tail number, contacted the FAA, and got a call back a few days later. Turned out it was a few guys from Wenatchee, returning from the Seattle area and went down in a storm. Bodies were recovered in the Spring, this happened in the early 70's. Kinda cool to at least get the story behind the wreckage.
-
I love this topics! Found a big pile of dirty magazines up at the pit on 70 one time, found a full Coor's light mini kegs when I was floating the green a couple of summers ago. I'm sure I'll think of some more stuff through out the day.
-
Bird hunting 15 years or so in college. Found a wallet with 40 bucks in it off Chicken Ranch road outside of colfax. No ID, no cards, nothing but 40 bucks. Bought beer and smokes in town that day.

Myself and a buddy of mine were elk scouting back in the early 90s stopped to go down a gated road and came across an emu it was one hell of a big bird, well my buddy pulled out his .41 mag and was going to shoot it and i said lets try to catch it we cornnered it on a high bank i grabed its legs he grabed its body and man the fight was on it starts kicking iam holding the legs with all i had while looking at the huge spurs on its legs thinking if i let go we toast the thing is swinging it head around smacking my buddy in the face iam laughing so hard iam crying we finely get to the ground i look at my buddy and he has one hell of a bloody nose were covered in mud we wrapped the thing in a tarp when we get to the truck it looked like a christmas package hog tied and all.We went down to the main road and started to stop at the houses and found the owner. To this day when i think about it i laugh to myself its one memory i will never forget and one of the wierdest things i have found in the woods.
-
I found a marajuana plantation last year elk hunting. thats was an erie thing to stumble into while hunting. I reported it and the officers came and looked at it, they figured it one of many in the area.
-
While Hog hunting in clear creek Cali, my old hunting buddy and I were waling up to a good vantage point, and came around a bend in the trail. There was some guy that looked like charles manson just standing there looking at a tree. We waited a few minutes and decided to walk past him. He never stopped looking at the tree, and didnt even budge or look our way. I still think abou that from time to time.

Back in the 8o's a friend and myself found an ejection seat to an F-86 in a swamp. Buddy called McChord and got the story behind it.He gave it to them and now it's suppose to be in a museum over there.

What is it with the frickin llamas. A couple of years ago my cousin and I where working our way threw some timber towards a clearing when I spotted movement up ahead of us. It ended up being 3 frickin llamas. I guess the next day my hunting partner and my cousin ran into a guy who was looking for his llama's. I guess they had gotten away from him a couple of months before.

That is about the funniest thing I have ever read. Being in the bird business, I can relate, having had a peacock beat the crap out of me. THAT WAS the hardest I have laughed almost ever.
-
Went to take care of business while camping in the blues. Found a few morals and an area that looked like someone had buried something large recently. Someone had driven to this spot and buried something you could tell from the tracks. Went back to camp and grabbed a shovel and some help. I was spooked already....then we uncovered a blanket with something wrapped in it. This is when I stopped digging....
Drove on down the road and waved down a game warden. He put his rubber gloves on and poked at it and said he could feel ribs, so this wasnt his juridiction unless it was a game animal. He waited for the sheriffe to show and to make a long story short, someone had wrapped their lab in a polarfleece blanket and buried way out in the woods. Weird.....
-
I was about 10 miles off the road up out of Curlew. I stopped to take a drink of water and I looked to my left and found a boot just sitting there. I looked around for the other one but did not find any trace of anything man made. The weird part was, it was old, but looked like it had not been chewed on at all.
-
I live near Sequim, so I have to go out into the woods so I can find 'normal'.
Actually, at a buddy's cattle ranch in another state there are lots of 'meteorites'. Turned out that these 'meteorites' are actually cannonballs from a battle in the early 1800's. We think it is the site of a battlefield lost to time. So he calls them meteorites so the state and archaeologists won't come take his land from him.
So that show Meteorite Men is just a crock :dunno: there just finding old cannonballs :mor: :lol4:

I did find two smokin hot little bettys once during archery season , way up in the woods , they were hikin in little short shorts . wish I'd had a doe tag`

Not sure if this counts....
We were flying helicopter tours up out of the Baker Lake Resort in 1990. The pilot, Jack, and I went for a flight one hot day. We were flying up a creek that came into the north west side of the lake and as we popped over a hill, there was 3 women. All nekkid and skinny dipping. One tried to hide behind a log that was coming down off the bank, but her butt stuck out one side, and her upper body out the other. Kinda funny. The other two just waved as we flew over. :chuckle:
-
Came around a corner on a road and there was a naked guy along the timber edge. He ran off into the brush. Never did see any vehicle and not sure what he was doing way up there.
-
I climbed Lassen Peak (11k+ but easy) in the afternoon once to see the sun go down on one side and the full moon come up on the other (very cool - if you get the opportunity you should do it). Anyway, walking down in the dark, the moon was so bright above timberline we didn't need to use headlamps. We passed some people coming up in the dark - like 5 or 6 of them, both men and women - completely naked except for boots and backpacks. We just passed them and nodded but nobody said a word. We walked for another hour or so in kind of a hurry to get out of there so no one was talking. When we got back to the pickup, one of the guys said "Did anyone else see that?" Even though it was an hour later and no one had spoken a word everyone knew what he was talking about and we all just doubled over laughing.

High country, is that Green Mt up above Robe and Verlot?? Up out of Granite Falls?

I wasn't hunting but I was shooting my bow on a 3d course that our neighbors have and out of nowhere an emu came running by. It turns out that it got out of its cage or fence from a farm a few miles away. They couldn't catch it so they had to shoot it. I almost shot it with my bow but I was so shocked to see it I didn't really do anything! I thought I was going to be attacked by a giant bird!

just off green about 1k yards from switchback springs

When I was a kid in the 70s I was walking along a highway to a friend's house outside of Pullman. I'd jump down into the drainage ditch when a car would come by. At one point I saw a stick coming out of the side of the ditch and decided to pull it out. The stick turned out to be a dried up dead cat leg and when I pulled the entire cat pulled out of its skin. It scared me bad and I couldn't run fast enough. Bad smell too.

I was hunting a Western Wa clearcut and found a pair of binoculars..................... on the same stump I had left them about 5 years earlier.
-
I found an old woodsmans saw that was about 7 or 8' long. Still leaning on the tree where he left it. I wished it could have spoken, the things it could say and the elk it had seen.
-
Found an old yorkstown shovel bear hunting this year, all metal and real heavy. Also I was driving up a forest road and came up on over 1000 sheep! some clankin around with bells around there necks. A couple guys were there herding them around and some big mean dogs barking at me! it was pretty comical really, wish I had my camera.
-
shot a deer one time in archery season, he died right on a game trail, in mid gutting out of know where a marathon runner with spandex and numbers on flew by me, gave me a wave, and off he went. bizzar!
-
On the way to Fawn Lake.
-
Come to think of it, there's a memorial stone like that in the Naneum unit that I found. Forgot about that. It's a painted rock with a guy's name on it. Seems like he died in his '60s.

August of 1988-89(?) I started out to do the PCT from Hwy 2 to I90. Got about 2/3rds, to Lake Waptus and spent 2 days there watching the rain come in sideways, got to feeling pretty bad and decided to hike out to Salmon la sac, well off my map. Spent the night at the headwaters of Lake Cle Elum. Next day I started down a road, fingers crossed it was the right one. Came around a corner to an acre of scat that I didn't recognize. Decided it must be sheep, sure enough a corner later there he was, right out of a Basque travel brochure. He gave me directions that didn't sound right, so I went the other way. Looking at a map later he had me going miles out of the way over a very tall ridge.. >:( :dunno: :chuckle:

I ran into three guys in the Margaret Unit in the late 70's while on an elk hunt. I had popped out of a some reprod, kinda turned around a bit, but after a few realized where I was, slung the rifle and started a 4 mile walk. Came around a curve in the road and parked along side was an old studebaker pick-up with three guys just standing there. No talking, just smoking and standing by the truck. A shiver went up my 17 year old spine but I said hello in my deepest voice and they said nothing. The oldest guys eyes burned a hole into me that I remember today. No words were spoken, but those eyes clearly said "get the hell out of here", which I obliged as fast as I could without running. Never so glad to get back to camp and am creeped out just telling the story again.

In 2000 I was on a three wheeler archery hunting down in 673 near naselle and I when down a road that was 15 year old clearcut(wall of brush). Anyway was planning and going to the end and getting to some timber. When I got to the bottom to turn around and park a guy in full swat gear vest, ar, face paint, radio, the works came out of the woods and right behind him was a pacific county sheriff with a chrome pump action. The sheriff came over and asked me what I was doing and explained to him while shaking and wondering what the hell was about to happen. He said you need to get out of here so I pulled the ole string and off I went. Come to find out 2 years later that they were in the middle of a Pot Bust. Someone found a stash that was being protected by guys with AK's and the 2 I ran into were covering an exit point. I am sure glad I found the police and not the guys with the AK's

Not in the woods but coming out, still count?
About 18 years ago 3 of us were hunting the hills near Twisp and coming off the mountain into a canyon full of houses we spotted a fight going on between 3 guys in orange and a home owner in a white blood soaked Tee shirt. We pulled off the side of the road pondering what we should do (3 against 1) and decided the best thing to do was to first pull off our orange and walked back to the fight hoping someone would come to their sense's. As we got closer we could see how bad the land owner was beatin but could also see his rage which in my opinion is what kept the fight going. The hunters would try and get in their truck but the land owner would do or say something and all 4 would be fighting again. I looked to my rite to see the owners wife (hadn't missed to many meals) running down their long drive way holding a cam recorder filming the hole thing, she even walked down to our truck and got a shot of our license plate. To make it worse I spotted a young 13 year old boy sitting in the front seat of the hunters truck with saucer size eyes, hope it wasn't his first hunting trip with dad! Anyway we herd sirens and jumped into out truck to leave, half way down we see this cop car flying up the road with a lone female cop driving. After a few jokes about that we were on our way home. A few weeks later my hunting buddy gets a phone call from the Sheriffs office wanting our side of what we had seen, turns out the 3 hunters were off duty cops of some sort from the west side. Don't know what started it, don't know how it ended...............................

Here's another one this time while in the woods hunting!
We were in the hills above Lk. Wenatchee coming off the mountain when we noticed tire tracks running off the dirt road over the steep bank. We stopped, got out, and looked over the edge to see a '46 Chevy 2 ton flatbed laden with fire wood on the back. It had gone over the bank and center punch a tree, good thing as it was another couple hundred feet to the bottom. We carefully walked down the cliff expecting to find a dead driver but no driver. A good thing as most of the wood had shifted forward from impact into the back of the cab pushing it and the seat forward almost to the dash. Looked like the driver had bailed before impact. Looked to be a nice truck before the tree kiss so we looked her over, on the left front rubber brake hose I found a C- Clamp and 2 nickles clamping the brake line off completely, looks as though the owner/drive had known it was on it's last leg!
-
How about a cougar, hovering over its prey, protecting it and hissing at me during archery season, all within 20 yards of me :yike:
Well an arrow or two later the cougar was gone and I did not want to go in to the bushes to find it. :bdid:

Found a picture of a chick giving a guy a b**w J*B. The guy getting the hummer was the one who took the pic. BETHEL RIDGE.

Back in the late eighties I was hunting on ft lewis in an area close to the Roy 'Y'. I was driving through an area which was usually a dump spot from the road. I glanced over and then did a double take. I thought I saw a dead body naked with the legs bent up in the air. I looked back to the road and was driving right into the brush. I quickly made a loop back to the spot and just as I came around the corner. There was this dude pulling up his drawers and the women was scrambling to cover herself. All the while there sits rover with his leash just waiting to finish his walk. I was laughing so hard, I almost ran into the brush again. After finishing my evening hunt I was going back to main post when I was stopped at a DOD police checkpoint. I related the story and they were all just about rolling on the ground, especially about the dead body with the legs in the air. :o

Not all that interesting, but odd to me. While elk hunting this past weekend we were walking up a beat up service road to a radio tower and all along the way there were fishing lures laying in the middle of the road. The odd part is there is nowhere nearby to even fish.

Bet someone was ticked off when they got home and found that their tackle box had spilled :bash:

Can I have my picture back?
-
Hiking into the back country, my wife and I heard a little dog barking, but we couldn't tell where it was coming from. We were about 4 miles back on a little trail, and it was getting louder the farther we hiked. Middle of the week, and no cars at the trailhead other than ours. Soon, we were very close. The sound seemed to be coming out of the earth, and we discovered a tiny chihuahua dog inside a squirrel hole at the base of a big tree. "Come here little feller." I reached in and by God the damned thing liked to rip me a new one :yike: My wife tried and the little sucker bared his teeth at her and took a swipe. :yike: Then he went deeper into the hole. He was wearing a little collar, and looked pretty healthy. It was late in the fall...
I wonder if the snow pack got him? Or maybe a big cat? :EAT:
-
Ptarmigan hunting up north of Cantwell with a family friend my dad and sister we saw a tree way up the side of the mtn with flagging tied way the hell at the top. When we got up there there was an old trunk at the base of the tree with a huge lock. We opened and found 3 brown bear cub skulls and a half dozen or so gall bladders. Craziest thing about it was while we inspecting the trunk we heard a plane off in the distance getting closer, sonofabitch ended up buzzing 50 or so feet right above the tree. We got the tail #'s and turned them in. I was about 12 or so at the time and it was by far the weirdest thing I have seen in the woods to date. We ended up getting pushed off the mountain by a sow with two cubs that evening and she was insanely aggressive. Apparently there were a lot of bears around there. Had a bear walk circles around our tent that night as well!!
-
I found a baby deer with and injured leg! So we saved it! And an animal recovery shelter came and got it!
-
Sure are cute suckers.
-
i Also found a newer girls mountain bike, burried in a creek in the middle of a clearcut during early elk season this year.

Probably trolling for elk would be my guess.
