Title: elk hunters drive me nuts
Post by: demontang on November 06, 2010, 11:10:00 AM: So Im out calling and I see a bird looking at something in the draw so I think yote. Well im sitting there waiting then I heard something behind me. So I slowly turn and there is a hunter walking up no me >:( I had hunters orange on so I know he saw me. I got up to see a coyote running away up the draw and over into the next valley :( I got my stuff and headed to make another stand only to find 4 guys standing skyline talking loud enough for me to hear them a mile away. So I gave up coyote hunting tell these guys are not walking around with guns.

If one were perfect - he would not be hunting in the wrong unit. :chuckle:

Sometimes ya just have to go out and drop a dog. I've been out. I've just avoided "elk country". The scablands of the Palouse this time of year are pretty elkless. I also followed the law and wore orange. I figured it to be unlikely they'd mistake me for an elk hunkered down in a draw with a pumpkin suit on. Plus, where I hunt dogs, I can see them coming a long ways out. Worst case, If they were lining up on me, I'd have to..... take measures.

I hunted mod elk this year and it was a zoo close to the roads but I was already in and ready for an elk at shooting light which paid off. I just cant believe someone would put the work in to walking that far to be loud or to walk up behind a hunter sitting down is what bugs me. If I see another hunter Ill be quite and give them room. :twocents:
