elk hunters drive me nuts
« on: November 06, 2010, 11:10:00 AM »
So Im out calling and I see a bird looking at something in the draw so I think yote. Well im sitting there waiting then I heard something behind me. So I slowly turn and there is a hunter walking up no me >:( I had hunters orange on so I know he saw me. I got up to see a coyote running away up the draw and over into the next valley :( I got my stuff and headed to make another stand only to find 4 guys standing skyline talking loud enough for me to hear them a mile away. So I gave up coyote hunting tell these guys are not walking around with guns.

That sucks.  Those are the kinds of guys you will hear talking about how "hard" they hunted and are surprised they didn't get anything.

That poor song dog is running around in pain now. Could've been hanging in a warm living room by now. :bash:

Why go where you know there is a modern elk season? Not everyone is as perfect as you. :dunno: :dunno:

If one were perfect - he would not be hunting in the wrong unit.  :chuckle:

Point me to a unit with in 30mile of selah That isn't open to elk. I was almost 2miles in so I figured I would see many people. I was in a area there's very few elk too.

Sometimes ya just have to go out and drop a dog. I've been out. I've just avoided "elk country". The scablands of the Palouse this time of year are pretty elkless. I also followed the law and wore orange. I figured it to be unlikely they'd mistake me for an elk hunkered down in a draw with a pumpkin suit on. Plus, where I hunt dogs, I can see them coming a long ways out. Worst case, If they were lining up on me, I'd have to..... take measures.

I had the rights to hunt one of my places sold, but was able to get back in for dogs only. A lot of people have a special category for dog blasters. Thought it was worth a try, turned out it was!
