A guy at work had an "old" gun for sale. I took a look at it and it was a barely used glenfield 30A .30-30. Two hundred bucks, came with a scope and owner's manual. a little surface rust on the barrel but looks like it may have only been shot once ( still has a sticker on it). found out it was made in 1979. so was it a good deal or not?

every new gun is a good deal.
congrats.
pics?

I love shooting lever guns, there is just something special about it.

It's hard to find a rifle/scope combo for $200, so I would say it was a great deal!! Good luck with it and let us know how it does....
-
Sounds like a good deal to me.

Didn't John Wayne shoot one of those?
You will need a catchy name now to keep up.... :chuckle:

Good deal! That Glenfield is basically, if I'm not mistake, a Marlin 336 with cheaper wood, made for places like K-Mart and Sears, back in the day. You done well my friend!!
-
pics, can't wait to shoot it.

I would have bought it in a heartbeat....and then bought the Happy Trigger Kit from Wild West Guns, Anchorage for it. ;) ;)

I'm a left handed shooter, and i think one of the reasons there aren't a lot of left handed guns is becasue lever guns work so well for lefties... I also have a 30-30 Win that was my fathers perfect brush gun for me because it kicks the shells straight up. :twocents: And boy are they fun to shoot!

A great deal! How can a hunter/shooter consider himself an American without owning at least one Levergun? Or 50 of 'em............... :chuckle:
I will guess this will be the 1st of many!

Amen to that! After your first lever gun you'll end up getting a few more. Got my first lever gun when I was a kid. Still have it to this day. Love shooting it, taken a lot of yotes with it over the years.
