Is there such a thing? There are wolves here. To the right, a normal sized female coyote. To the left. The Hulk Hogan of coyotes.

It ALL look like Coyote to me! :bfg:
Mulehunter :)
-
I've wondered that myself. :dunno: they usually despise yotes but ya never know.
-
I would send that one to the tannery. Dont wolves kill coyotes on sight?
-
There are no wolves in this state...only big coyotes :)
-
That is a nice coyote. Make sure you get your photo in for our team.
-
funky coat on that yote. but i like it, big sob for sure.

There's coyote/wolf mixes back east but the bloodline mix goes quite a ways back. There's no way IMO that a wolf is gonna be standing that close to a coyote without that yote getting her ass handed to her by said wolf.

I was going to mention this same thing. The bloodlines back east do have wolf in them.
From what I've read, I don't think we'd see any crossbreeding over here (west). In fact, the one benefit that Wyoming saw, at least shortly after the introduction, was an increase in pronghorn numbers. This was attributed to wolves killing coyotes, the pronghorn's #1 killer of young.
With all that being said, I am FAR FROM AN EXPERT and am just throwing out a little bit of what I've read. (I do read a lot....kind of hobby of mine. And yes, sounds dull doesn't it?!...LOL)
That 'yote on the left is one HUGE dog though. Never seen one that big that I can recall.
-
He sure is pretty damn big for a yote :twocents: :mgun:
-
As far as I can tell he was all yote, but it sure fired my heart when I saw him. Hes the biggest coyote I've seen I think. Here is a long distance crop for closer examination.

all whopper coyote :twocents:
yep- he's a dandy.
-
yotes have been known to cross breed with lone wolfs, and pet dogs,(scource marty stouffers wild america) and since Wyoming popped up in the story, lets not forget about the loafer wolves that look like a coyote on roids.

one of the wolves from the blues last year was seen with a coyote a couple of times, giant black wolf and a coyote side by side. maybe they get along if there running solo??????
-
Bluebull, your all wrong. T here are no wolves in the blues. The Ologists only declare two packs in the state and there none anywhere else and they have all wisdom and knowledge. The hunters are all liars and idiots. We must trust the supreme KGB authorities. They will free us of this pestilence if we only trust them.
