Any of you live with a thief? I set my house slippers by the door so I have them upon entering the house. What do I find one or none. Where have they gone? Top of the stairs is a lab with a shoe in his mouth looking at me with a sly eye and his tail wagging. We go through theft daily some times minute by minute. Long walk, followed by bumper practice he's still the consummate thief.
First thing in the morning as we wake and before he is fed house slippers are stolen from who is ever last in bed or if they are not handy a pillow, pants, shirt etc. All to get attention.
I've never lived with a dog that enjoys teasing so much as this lab. We are not mad at him but just surprised at his attention getting mode. Oh, I forgot if you are guest you too get to enjoy the THIEF!
:chuckle:

My lab was the same way for a while. Shoes, socks, hats, anything he could get a hold of. He even took my spitter a couple of times.

My pup likes to steal stuff but she doesn't chew the stuff up very often. I think it is more of a game to her. It is actually pretty funny to watch when I do catch her with something as she knows she is in trouble but I can't get mad at her because she is too dang cute!

Chief my Thief likes socks for some reason... he does not chew them up, he just likes to snag them and take them to his bed...Mine, the little girls, the wifes don't matter... :dunno:
-
My lab is just horny... he always steal my wifes uns out of the laundry. At first I thought she was giving me hints leaving her lingerie around... wishful thinking I guess.

This made me LOL a little wish my beagle would just steal stuff, and not eat it then again beagles eat everything

Last week my dog who is not a pup anymore stole one of my spurs and actually ate the entire spur strap. And then vomited it up a couple of hours later, I guess I will have to make a new one.

upon entry into the house, our lab will case the entire joint. her target-socks-clean,dirty,doesnt matter. after the theft she will search out the wife & turn in the stollen goods for a reward. when wife was asked about the reward system for a known thief her comment was-at least shes helping pick up after you boys-

Sisu, maybe if you didn't have bunny slippers it wouldn't be as much of a problem. :chuckle:

This summer I planted a ton of strawberries and couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting berries. One day I happened to look out the window and noticed my 93 lb chocolate lab nosing through the plants and picking the berries one at a time without disturbing the plants. They're good thieves.
-
Nephews Spaniel does the same, but only with underwear... :yike:

My dad's GWP doesn't steal stuff, but he has to carry something around all the time. It could be your shoes, your coat, a blanket, anything that will fit in his mouth and he can carry to you. He even brought the phone to my dad when he was in the restroom. If the remote is gone look for the dog. The only time something might come up missing is because Sage took it outside and you don't notice him bringing it to you.

My wife's Chihuahua LOOOOOVES her.....under...ah.....wear! He has an obsession. Very common to see the little......ah.....trotting around, showing off his "trophy".
-
My old yellow lab would always get a piece of dirty laundry to keep with her when we left her alone. She didn't chew on it, just liked to have a reminder of family I guess.
-
My dog is a thief too. I no longer have socks because he has shredded every one of mine and only mine. I've gotten smarter though, I just wear my dad's socks :chuckle:. Also if I sleep in too late he'll come in my room and push me off my bed. Then he'll grab my pillow and run of with it.

My lab prefers to find my danners.. >:(

If I sit down and turn on the T.V. before I take the dog out training or hunting, I always have a pile of socks shoes gloves hats etc. next to me. He's always bringing me stuff. Think he loves what he's bred to do?
