I am about done. I'm out of gas money, and the Mrs' patience is wearing thin. I'm also tired of sleeping under a wet tree, and if I push it to reason number one or two, I might permanently end up under a wet tree. :chuckle: Just over 400 bucks. I could have done it in another week I think. The rut is lulling though so who knows. I'll have a couple days now to poke one later on.
-
Bone i will take ya anywhere you want to go... You will not have to pay for fuel and i will carry your cameras and your side arm for ya. An di will not tell anyone where we go...

-
You never know. We might have to throw him in too.
-
Shes actually been pretty understanding. I think she liked the idea of me being here and there and stopping in once in awhile versus. I'm off to Nevada, see ya in a month. :)
-
Wow :yike: :yike: I know you are a go getter but you have really been on the move. You create bunches of enjoyment for many many people. My grandsons love to see your work and so does the rest of the family. Thank you very much. :) :)
-
Good luck down there, hope ya knock down a monster...
-
Thanks Deepforks and everyone. I'm glad you guys like them, especially the kids. I'm staying home WDFW, unless I get a burr under the saddle. Mostly a budget and time choice. I;ve killed so many deer, and I had such a good fall with the camera chasing down all these bucks, I haven't even thought about it.

What are ya hunting for down there?
-
they get over it. just make sure to exercise your full prickness after a day or two in the house.....she will throw you out. at least it works for me!
-
I drew a late rut tag down there for deer in the Rubys
Yep, I've used that one HC.

Same here. I was in the Desert last weekend looking at some very nice bucks up close and just kept thinking what a joke I was without a camera. One stud in particular was pushing 170 and I felt fortunate to have him inside of 80 yards. Hell, Bone would have made good friends with him, maybe shared a pot of coffee and learned about his hopes and dreams. All I could do was sit there, drool and not take a damn picture.
The pics are awesome man, thanks.
-
Thanks Bone for all the pics, sure did enjoy them. I might as well volunteer me to take you anywhere you want to go for free of course. I will provide everything you will need no problem at all... Heres to you Bone :brew:

holy crap! that made me laugh :chuckle:
i gotta say bone, i was beginning to wonder if you even had a job with how often you are out. i just assumed that you were probably single. if you have stayed employed and married through all of your adventures, then you must have some kind of magic.
i'm still laughin.
-
all I can say is it was a mistake to come home.
-
she will get over it, soon shed season will be over and ther will be no reason to get up that early for a few weeks, that will give you time to tell her how great a job she does on the dishes and you can slap her on the hiney, maybe fart a few times at the table and get caught picking a quality buger......by then spring growth is onand the spring turkey and bear hunts are swingin' and she will help you pack you things.......it is the circle of our lives.
-
or single life....its always an option :dunno:
-
all I can say is it was a mistake to come home.
as much as i laughed before, i'm actually sorry to hear that. hope it all works out.
-
Gotta laugh at it Croix, otherwise its just not bearable.
As for single life, I think I'd be more appreciated. :chuckle:
-
it is the begining of the rut ya know....and human pics tend to bring more $$$
-
IT'LL WORK OUT... :) IT ALWAYS DOES :chuckle:
-

well then yuck it up fuzzball :chuckle:
-
I'm laughing because she has had to do 5 out of the last six practices on her own. Previous to that I did everyone for a year and a half without missing any. LOL That was enough fuel to piss her off. She is jealous that I have vacation. She forgets she had 3 months off this summer becasue she works for the school district. The difference. I get paid on my vacation while I hunt. She doesn't. You can't win any arguement, no matter how logical it seems, so you just smile and know the moon will change. Essentially she pissed me off enough though that I might miss the three basketball games this weekend and go hunting instead. Kids understand as they listen to it. They know I don't miss anything of theres without a REAL good reason.
-
classic post rut doe activity......do like all buck do and go be alone.
-
The good Lord will work everything out... :) I MISSED THE WHOLE BIG GAME SEASON THIS YEAR CUZ.... WELL I DUNNO FOR SOME REASON MY WIFE WAS.... I DUNNO...LOL BUT AFTER STAYING HOME FOR A COUPLE WEEKS SHE GOT TIRED OF ME AND WANTS ME TO GO FOR THA LATE SEASON ON THE WEST SIDE.... SHE PROBABLY FEELS BAD FOR MAKING ME MISS THE SEASON,... BUT THERE'S ALWAYS SMALL GAME... :) HUNTING/HOBBIES WILL ALWAYS BE AROUND,.. FAMILY MAY NOT. I PROBABLY WONT DO LATE SEASON EITHER CUZ ITS SUCH A SHORT NOTICE..

+1
One of the funniest things I've read in a long time.... :chuckle: :chuckle:
You definitely have set the bar as far as pics go...they are top notch and we all appreciate them. Also, with some of the offers you are getting (they'll drive etc) you need to see if you can negotiate some one to keep momma happy as well. You got to have some yard work or gutter cleaning that needs done.
Need an agent? :chuckle:

Bone
I have a question. (a few) How do you keep all your camera gear dry with all the crappy weather and sleeping under the stars -so to speak? Do you keep a plastic shroud or something over the one you are shooting? and how do you deal with the foggy lenses?
-
I use a sea bag. Its what you put a sleeping bag in...can get them from cabelas. Its big and I leave it open so that it breaths...(no fog that way. If you seal it, it will certainly fog on you. I have to carry it often in my pack which means I miss alot of photo ops. When I am shooting, I either pull it out, pull the trigger or not pull it out and again miss the shot. I use veggy bags from the produce Aisle from safeway as well. They are thin . You put the bag over the camera and rubberband it to the lens.
-
advice to the younger men on here......marry an ugly one. Less maintenance, and they have to be nicer. :)

Wise words...

whenever my wife's patience starts to wane i remind her that "at least i'm not going out so sea for months on end anymore". when she questioned hunting on thanksgiving i reminded her that it's not the first holiday i've missed. that one went over like a pregnant pole vaulter. i will be hunting the day after thanksgiving :'( i also burned an entire week of vacation time during the middle of general deer season to help her out after surgery. don't get me wrong - i was happy to do it, but i AM getting a little mileage out of that. ;)

That sounds like alot of work. Would you post a pic of your gear in action, if that is possible? I think that would be neat to see. And your bivy camp :chuckle:
I see this pic and think of you sneaking up on a big buck

By the way, give it some thought before you marry one that hunts and fishes..... I thought that would be the perfect setup until I met a girlfriend that fished and hunted... Could never get away from her!!!! :chuckle:
"Yeah, going hunting in the morning." "Great! What time are we leaving?" "Uh......"
-

.
Thats funny. Up until today I was going to be home for Thanksgiving. She just pissed me off though, so we will see. Every once in awhile she rattles the bears cage a little hard. It really isn't too smart to piss off the bread winner.
-
Its a pain Quad. And the fact how much it weighs. Its also fun to try to stalk these guys. You guys have been very complimentary about my mad stalking skills. It is fun with a 14 pound white flag and a monopod banging on every stick.
-
With small hands
LMFAO!!
Quad, that guy is a RETARD... that is ridiculous... he's trying way too hard!
Bone... dam dude... sorry. Mine has been very tolerant as of late... I've got 1 full week of season left and she seems to still be friendly (not friendly enough to use those small hands... but you know, not scowling at me)...
Go kill a dam NV buck or something...
-
"Yeah, going hunting in the morning." "Great! What time are we leaving?" "Uh......"
LMFAO again!!!
-
This was part of an email from my bride a couple days ago...
Go kill some *censored* and quit moping.
-
Kinda hard to imagine huh Ernie... :chuckle:
Isn't the Bison range about half way between your house and mine. I'll meet you there. :)
-
This is the best thread I've read in a long time. :chuckle: The reality of married life is a lot more entertaining when it's somebody else's.
-
is NH halfway between Germany and here. I'll meet you there Sat.
-
I'm sure I'll be trouble in the Spring too. :)
-
lemme save you the trouble, never refer toany anatomy of a woman as an axe wound or the hairy end of the gut sack. and never ever say sarcasticly..."guess who's ovulating". following that advice, which is time tested will save you future grief and frying pan beatings.

Marriage is the leading cause of divorce! Lol

Hang in there Bone, we all go through it.
My wife just asked what I wanted for my birthday which is Saturday. I stood there silently for a second pondering. She says "If you thinking your going to miss thanksgiving dinner to go hunting your out of your mind." Freakin' mind readers. I am going to have to counter with some jedi mind tricks of my own. I am thinking sympathy card on this one. "Baby, it's my birthday. You wouldn't want me to be sad on my birthday would you?"
On a side note I think the women realize that we are right 100% of the time. They just put up a fight in the hopes of catching us off guard and getting their way. I see right trough this facade. Sometimes she makes a good argument and almost has me convinced she is right. Just then I snap out of it. Theres no way she could be right. Common logic tells me that if I am right 100% of the time, then that leaves 0% chance of her coming out on top of this one.
