Title: Good Gunsmith in Western Washington
Post by: dfarley33 on November 18, 2010, 03:31:19 PM
I need to get my browning Citori sized down for me, and would like to take it to a good gunsmith.  I would be grateful for any recommendations of gunsmiths you guys have used, and been happy with.
Thanks,
Dave

There's an outfit up in Seattle on Lake City Way, can't remember their name, but they do a great job with shotguns.  I had them chop off 2 inches of barrel and install a new choke system on my 870.  Just found their name, Stan Baker Sports, http://www.stanbakersports.com (http://www.stanbakersports.com)  1-206-522-4575

I just heard this weekend that Stan Baker's is closed, but I have not personally confirmed it.

A ball park location would be helpful... You closer to Portland or Bellingham? Northbend of Sequim?

I am in Kenmore, just north of Seattle. Stan Bakers is closed due to tax issues, and to be honest, they were rude every single time I went in there.

Glad to hear Stan Baker’s is closed.  That place is a total train wreck.  Stay far away from them if they are still open.

I think the BEST for shotguns is actually shooters emporium in Portland they do all the Kesselring high end work and they are who I use for my shotguns.

My buddies Benelli semi auto is in need of work also; it jambed 3 times yesterday. First time out this season. He is near Snoqualmie. So if anyone has someone closer to Seattle that would be a great help to dfarley33 & us.
Thanks in advance.  :hunt2:

I have had several SBE's, they need to be cleaned and oiled often.  Don't use heavy oil either.  The best light oil I could find was Hoppe's in the black plastic bottle.

Mike Nelson is the best around the State, but he is down in Yuma at his winter retreat.  Mike Nelson (253) 759-0153

There is only one other guy I trust, Keith Kearcher in Bend Oregon.  These guys are serious gun smiths and do EXCELLENT shotgun work.  Having moved here fro CA and owning some very high end shotguns, attention to detail matters to me.  if it does you, then drop ketih a line.

Do a google search under Keith Kearcher Double Guns Bend Oregon

Happy Turkey Day

Mike is very good with rifles, but shotguns are not his specialty from what I've seen.

micheal fuller , washougal river mercantile.

It's Marcus Fuller at WRM. Expect a long turn-around time for gunsmith work as he is very busy (he had my rifle for a year for a new barrel and re-chamber job).
