I'd like to pick your brain about your thoughts on manufacturers, barrel lengths and some other stuff.
-
I'm surprised that no one owns one of these.
-
just wait it out, there are people here that own em
-
:bfg: ;)

Thats because most of us are hunters and although many of us LOVE guns we buy them with hunting in mind. Not all of us but most of us. Go to the websites more geared towards guns and you'll see several guys who own them. Those things are very expensive and typically it's a gun that true shooting nuts buy, not hunting nuts. :twocents:
-
I do not own one.. I do know two people that do though. One is extended family. Like gut says though... Jump on one of the other gun forums and you'll find plenty. There was a crazy run on them about five years ago. Seemed like I couldn't get into a conversation at the range with a group of guys, then the 50 would come up... That someone was building one.

We could all go in on one together.... I will keep it over here at my place for safe keeping... I may have to drill a hole in the top of my gun safe...
-
They're not all that long. The AR-50 has a butt that detaches, the Grizzly LAR is a breech loader, quite a few have quick release barrels, etc. There is even a bull-pup breechloader that is 16" overall. So, I think your safe is safe, ice....man.
-
Excellent, I will send you my address for your share of the gun, I take check, cash or cashiers check.... :chuckle: Thanks for saving me from drilling the safe...

An acquaintance has an ArmorLite (spelling ?) Fun to shoot at 800-1500 yards, but not very functional for anything else other than destroying steel targets.
-
I saw someone firing one at the range and it looked like a blast ... literally. Wow.
I've got a .458 Lott and the .50 BMG has twice the muzzle energy.
-
Hey Adams, can I count you in too....we can open carry it at the capitol grounds this spring...
-
I'm in.
Tandem open carry.
-
Hey Adams,
Shoot me a PM if you're interested.
I've had a few pass through my hands and will gladly share any info I have including load-data, preferences, etc.
The big .50 can be very functional...and not as cumbersome as you may imagine.
I've personally shoulder fired one model that weighed under 14lbs including glass.

Where do you go to shoot a 50? Not that I can afford the rifle- or the ammo- but I wish I could have one, especially when the world goes to crap.
-
Bscman, I sent you a e-mail yesterday.
-
I'f you've got an AR you can buy a .50 BMG upper for around 1200 w/o optics. It's a single shot bolt action but realistically do you ever really need more than 1 with a .50?
-
They are an anti vehicle/armor weapon... I have a buddy that does long range with a bolt action, weights like 60lbs no optics.... Fun yes.. shoot bulk military ammo? Not if you need precision... He started reloading his own 50 cal but it still costa a friggin arm and leg...
-
I thought that the ar upper converted to .50 beuwolf not .50 bmg but i could be wrong.
-
there are tons of manufactures that make uppers. that can be added to a AR-15 lower.
-
holy crap.

Here she is. All 36 lbs of her. For what it's worth, I keep telling her that that stock does not make her look fat.

Awesome!
Have you fired that yet? I imagine you might want a little thicker recoil pad if it's .50 BMG :chuckle:
-
Can you invite me when you go shoot it- I'd love to watch.
-
Just got it yesterday. Have no idea when I'll take her out. Need some decent optics.
At 36 lbs, the recoil shouldn't be that bad.
-
nice what brand

East Ridge Gun Co. (formerly State Arms)

I'm thinking stacking limbsavers would be in order :o Nice looking gun!

Huh?? :dunno:
For the price of just that gun, you could get a few AK-47s, handguns, and several cases of ammo. I'm not quite sure why a .50cal would make a better EOW gun.
-
She looks good
-
Sweet scope!
-
Nice cannon. Good for 'pup-ulation' control.
Something I've seen a bit of for scope mounting when using a Picatinny on a .50 is to use two sets of rings (4 rings total). I think one set is fine, but many owners seem to think they need two.
Have fun.

My dad has the Barrett semi-auto .50 BMG. It's a kick to take out shooting, other than the $3.50 - $5.00 per round depending on where purchased. The recoil is light and it seems to be very accurate.
