Title: Has anyone ever????
Post by: Superhunter333 on November 24, 2010, 10:36:39 PM
Heard from a buddy that a friend of a friend puts bait out when deer are dropping there antlers. he puts it in some kind of trough and runs bungee cords along above the trough so that when bucks feed the bungee cords give enough pressure to pop the shed off he has it rigged so that if a bucks antler gets tangled the bungee pops off and wont teather the buck to that spot apparently he is very successfull has any one done this and if so any tips. i know it defeats the purpose of shed hunting but i think its a good idea what everyone opinion?

There is a really good thread on here somewhere from last year on this same thing. Can't remember who it was but they made a pretty slick feed box to try to get them antlers.

Someone on here has to know where that thread is at.

There was a thread about this last year and I think some even posted pictures of their shed "catcher" or whatever they call it. I don't recall hearing of anyone having success.

Ive heard a lot of stories about wire, bungee traps, but with no proof of producing. However a old timer who feeds deer down canyon from me puts grain in buckets hung on trees. he gets a couple sheds a year in the yard. Maybe they work, or they just fell off passing through. :dunno:
