You just have to love it when all your hard work pays off. Scouting all year long, trail camera photos, endless hours waiting and watching for that special deer you've had your eye on all year. The physical fitness to loose 105 pounds so you can get up and down these hills. It's an awesome feeling that only folks who put in the time and effort know, guys like Boneaddict and others on here. Photos shortly.

Way to go Fred can't wait for the pics. All the hard work pays off, congrats.
-
You lost 105 pounds :yike: WAY TO GO! That is a small whitetail right there. :chuckle:

Well this wasn't one of those deer. :chuckle: :chuckle: Sorry for the opening drama, just messing around. Sitting on the couch this morning waiting to take my wife shopping and a mulie ran past my dining room window. Got my muzzle loader, stepped out and had a shot at a nice sized mulie, but then he turned his head and it was a forkhorn, not legal. Two big does were up the hill and this little guy was standing there broadside, so he stayed with me. Button buck. Probably just set the record for the smallest deer taken by a HuntWa member this year......maybe ever!
Taking my 18 year old out tomorrow so he can hopefully fill his muzzy tag.

Yep, I'm down 105 pounds since May 7th. :IBCOOL:
-
CONGRATS on the wieght loss! Also, that little guy will eat REALLY well. Been there, done that. I shot one about 15 years ago (Looked like a big doe from 200 yards). I only got a few pounds of meat off of it but it was some of the best eating venison I've ever had.
-
Fred, awesome job. Get it done before we get pounded with mpre snow!

I'll bring up the heavy duty steel cable if you need help dragging it out of the woods Fred ;)
-
:chuckle: Bring the winch as well and a rag to wipe the milk from his mouth.
-
Fred,
I have been in the same situation at the end of deer season. My hunting buddies gave me a hard time.
I would just say it's a "legal" deer and will taste better than their old rutted stinky bucks.
I would even venture to say that you shot the "tasiest, and "most tender" deer here on Hunt Wa this year ;)
Congrats
-
Trust me, I have no issues with my deer. If some guys have problems with it, that would be they're problem. I am secure in my man...er hunterhood. :) I've killed 50-60 deer in my life and after two years of tag soup, this one will taste just fine...even though it'll be gone after three meals... :chuckle:
-
Heck, a deer is a deer. We all have killed a yearling at one point in life. No shame in it. Though the yearlings I have killed did not fill the freezer, it put a dent in the empty shelves! Congrats! :cue:
-
Did you at least let mama lick the afterbirth off before shooting it? :chuckle:
Just kidding, you outdid my tag soup this year. Congrats! :hello:
-
I made a great stalk one year on a big fat dry doe. I saw it about a mile away and closed to about 150 yards or so. Anyhow, I got the 350 Rem Mag steadied and thumped her. Got up to the deer and just started laughing it was a tiny fawn sure glad I used the 350. I was a bit embarrased but it sure was an easy pack out and it was really good eating although there wasn't much there to eat.
-
Machias, did you happen to see my "1st muzzy kill" thread? I think were pretty close. :chuckle: Actually I think mine is smaller. :IBCOOL:
-
No shame in that deer  . My brother-in-law shot a button buck like that on the last day of the season about 5 years ago. We brought it home thinking the kids would be excited but his oldest boy (5 at the time) says " you should have let it growd up". Congrates on the deer.
-
" you should have let it growd up".
:chuckle: You gotta love kids, brutally honest!!!

Well, a small corner of it anyway. :chuckle:
Sorry, just having a little more good-natured fun with you. ;)
-
Bet a tenderloin will fit quite nicely on a hot dog bun. :chuckle:
Nice work! Got eats right there! :)
-
You guys are brutal...
-
Yep, that is gonna taste way better than my tag steak even after i hang it in the cooler to age and marinate it before I crock pot cook it. Good venison veal right there.
-

My 8yo is really into big bucks. He hunted hard with me for two days. On the last day I told him I was shooting the first legal deer I could. He opted to stay home. When I brought my doe home he was not even interested in looking at it. Of course the 4yo loved it and wanted to eat some meat that stayed on the hide. :chuckle:
