Fred,

I have been in the same situation at the end of deer season. My hunting buddies gave me a hard time.
I would just say it's a "legal" deer and will taste better than their old rutted stinky bucks.

I would even venture to say that you shot the "tasiest, and "most tender" deer here on Hunt Wa this year ;)

Congrats

Trust me, I have no issues with my deer.  If some guys have problems with it, that would be they're problem.  I am secure in my man...er hunterhood.  :)  I've killed 50-60 deer in my life and after two years of tag soup, this one will taste just fine...even though it'll be gone after three meals... :chuckle:

Heck, a deer is a deer. We all have killed a yearling at one point in life. No shame in it. Though the yearlings I have killed did not fill the freezer, it put a dent in the empty shelves! Congrats! :cue:

Did you at least let mama lick the afterbirth off before shooting it? :chuckle:

Just kidding, you outdid my tag soup this year.  Congrats! :hello:

I made a great stalk one year on a big fat dry doe. I saw it about a mile away and closed to about 150 yards or so. Anyhow, I got the 350 Rem Mag steadied and thumped her. Got up to the deer and just started laughing it was a tiny fawn sure glad I used the 350. I was a bit embarrased but it sure was an easy pack out and it was really good eating although there wasn't much there to eat.

No shame in that deer  . My brother-in-law shot a button buck like that on the last day of the season about 5 years ago. We brought it home thinking the kids would be excited but his oldest boy (5 at the time) says " you should have let it growd up". Congrates on the deer.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
