Title: A Pair of mallards
Post by: millirad on November 29, 2010, 07:37:39 PM
I had these two swim up to office today. I like the Hens colors. Do you think its a hybrid or albino?

Domestic mallard that was released.  I see many very similar near morages and parks that are located on lakes.

no, not that.  It's a color phase that occurs on occasion. Google Leucistic or Leucism.  It's a lack of pigment similar to a piebald deer but not a full blown albino.  I have a leucistic drake mounted on my wall with a mallard pintail hybrid.  Kind of my "oddball" birds.  Completely wild birds, not released domestic.  Just trying to stop the further spread of misinformation on this forum... probably get banned for it like Professor Chaos and Meats.
