What is the best gun to hunt Grouse? 22 rifle, 20 or 410 shotgun?
Any areas in Whatcom County good for Grouse hunting?

While I don't pursue the grouse around here..................I know for a fact that probably the most grouse get shot in whatcom county by a fellow I shoot skeet with...................he's a .410 guy and I wouldn't want to be on the recieving end of it with him at the helm,he's a VERY VERY good shot.He kills a ton of em.

It's perfectly acceptable to shoot grouse where they sit,as when they hit the forest, them big trees tent to mess the shot pattern up.
If you are real good with a 22,they work great .If you have a revolver, those bird shot rounds are really pretty good too.I say revolver, cause they don't cycle in an auto loader.
410 is more than adequate for a grouse ,since most shots will be fairly close anyway.
A 20 is great and a 12 can destroy a close in grouse,if you don't take the duck choke out
