2011 is my year for a new bow. Have shot alot of the 2010's. Would like hunters opinions of what they think of the 2011's. I know they're still hittin' the racks, so take your time.
Good hunting, Happy holidays,

Looking forward to seeing the one Bowtech is holding out on and really want to shoot the Elite's. Not that I need a new bow but sure would like one :)
-
I think the new Bowtech is supposed to be released on Jan 6. I'm looking forward to seeing that one too.
Good hunting.

I bought myself a new bow this fall. I wasn't looking for a high end as this is only my second year bowhunting, but after trying several PSE, Martin, and Bear. I was suprized to find I liked the Bear best for the under $500 price range. It was much quieter, and smoother than the others. I would love to get a Matthews or Bowtech, but just can't justify the cost yet.
-
i cant wait to see the new Bowtech's even though i'm a mathew's guy
-
I've shot nothing but hoyt for years now. Every time I get a new bow I shoot them all and still get the hoyt. I've been getting a new one about every other year.
-
I've shot nothing but mathews and Bowtech for years now, but gotta admit am intrigued by the new Hoyt, the Carbon Matrix I believe it is called. Not gonna be looking at it due to price, and my current bowtech is only 2 years old, but it is intriguing.
-
I cant wait for the new Bowtechs!! I have shot them for the last 7 years. Started off with the Patriot dually. Loved that bow! Then I ended up getting an Allegiance. then a 82nd airborne. Didnt like the 82nd airborne as much as the Allegiance. I almost bought the Destroyer this year but wanted to wait and see what they come out with for 2011

I made the switch from Martin to Hoyts Vectrix in 08 and my bow before that was 10 years old, big differance. I feel it's all about preferance, what feels good to draw, weight, smoothness, etc. The new bows now are cadillacs and all shoot great. The bigger picture is can you take animals with it. Chevy, Ford, Dodge, same debate, but they get you from A to B.

Thats been an argument around my neck of the woods for a while. I think Fords kill deer better. :chuckle:

What about the LimbSaver bows? I actually have a buddy that has a couple of them for sale for a pretty reasonable price. I think he even said he's got a BowTech Destroyer for sale too. They are all brand new and come with a rest and sight. I think he said $400 or $500 for the LimbSavers and $700 for the BowTech, but don't quote me on that. If anyone is interested, send me a pm and I'll see if he still has any of them.
-
The new bowtech's have already leaked out if you do a search!
-
That carbon thing?
Me-thinks Mathews/PSE will have some interesting stuff. shoot, who minds healthy competition between companies that only gives us better toys!? Not I :P
-
I went to Cabelas today and saw the new pse bows. They have some huge cams on those things!! :yike:
-
Want to buy a used 82nd Airborne only bacause I am getting bak2huntn after a lot of years and mostly because my son is in the 82nd airborn (go cav scouts)Love those guys!!
-
Ive been shooting a mathews for awhile i went and shot the bowtech destroyer and WOW i was very very impressed. the destroyer will be my next bow. No question.................
-
So how come nobody likes Martin? Serious question- I don't know much about bows but when I did hunt with a bow about 10 years ago for a couple of years I had a Martin, and thought if I ever decide to hunt with a bow again I would consider a Martin first, since they're made in this state. So what's wrong with them? Just not keeping up with new technology?

On the same topic, what are everyone's thoughts on Rytera? Does anyone have a Rytera? Or has anyone shot one? I handled an Alien X the other day and really liked the feel and draw. I think I will purchase a new bow this year and was thinking I'd go Rytera or Martin but everyone here seems to like Matthews, Hoyt, and Bowtech...
-
If you go with any known brand you really cant get a bad bow. Anything that feels good to you will be a great bow from almost any company. :)
-
You should obviously pick what draws and feels good to you but that new mathews Z7 is preety impresive?

I just picked up my Z7 Xtreme. It is sweeeeet :)
-
First I want to say that there are a lot of great bows out there. I shot quite a few of them last spring while doing my own research. I bought a Mathews Z7 and love it. Now, looking at their website and seeing 5 more Z7 models and a Z9, I'd have to say that Mathews has something in their Z7.
I really liked the Bow Tech Destroyer in both the 340 & 350. I also liked the Hoyt Maxis 31. Diamond Black Ice and Iceman were also darn nice bows. There were many more that were good but you guys need to buy what feels good to you and most importantly what you can afford. My bank account usually is my deciding factor, LOL.
-
Yep, I shot the destroyer and the admiral. I don't like a bow that cams over hard and both of these did. The ones I shot were also louder than the Z7 and Z7 Xtreme. :twocents:

While I dont doubt you, something was probably not set up right on the admiral. Bowtechs center pivot bows are the quietest in the industry.
-
There was just a considerable "thunk" when I shot. My z7 xtreme has no thunk to it.
-
i had high hopes for the carbon element. i shot it last night and it honestly had quite a bit of hand shock... i havent seen anything from any company that i would consider replacing my maxxis with. :chuckle: but then again i havent seen bowtechs offering yet... :o

Thanks for all the responses and voting. Really appreciate good input from hunters.
Happy holidays,

10heiau & bobcat, I have a Rytera Nemesis and love it, will have another this year. Shot both my bull & buck this year with it. They are made by Martin just a different name, great bows, as most are now a days. PM me and I can give you more details. DD
-
Here's Rytera's new 2011 bow, "Seeker"...check it out!
-
That thing is crazy looking! I think if I get a Rytera, I will go with the Alien X.
-
I'm just getting back into archery. Buying a new bow this spring. I'm going with a bear. Not as high of quality as a Matthews, Hoyt, or Bow Tech but for just starting again I don't want to spend 1,200 plus on a high end bow.
-
Bear makes some great bows. You'll be happy with one.
Way, way back when I was a real archery nut and gave advice, I would always advise folks to buy a decent bow but buy the best arrows out there since that made a much bigger difference. Now days arrows are almost perfectly straight and bows are smooth as silk. Shooting form is still the deciding factor along with practice. The best bow out there won't make up for improper form or lack of practice.

Great reply. When I started my son shooting six years ago, I started him with a recurve and fingers. When he go his first compound I kept him on fingers for the first few months and he shot well. I put him on a release earlier this year. Within a month he was out shooting me, pretty proud dad, but also the difference between 44 and 17, hahaha. He doubled lunged his first deer this winter. A good friend once told me "practice does not make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect. Thanks for the post. Good hunting and happy new year, TC66.

Voting will close January 31, 2011. I'll post the results after close. Happy New Year. Good Hunting, TC66.

I think I'd qustion any bow that has to hang a fishing wieght on the string ( mathews ) I believe that hoyt makes a real sweet bow although i dont own a new one . i own a limbsaver and love the workablity of it and it has decent performance . I really love my new G5 one pin to fourty yards 4 for 4 this year however there winnerchoice strings suck . maybe It's the radical cam ramp thats hard on them we will see .
-
How come nobody has mentioned the Athens accomplice? I have heard only good things about it but never shot it.

New Bowtech is out and it looks like it will be an awesome bow. http://www.bowtecharchery.com/#/productBreakdown?r=products_products&i=32 (http://www.bowtecharchery.com/#/productBreakdown?r=products_products&i=32)

No offense firedog, but am I missinng something? When comparing this new bow to the destroyer, it doesn't seem like it's very different at all..... :dunno: I'm in the market for a new bow, and was leaning to Bowtech, but this isn't impressing me.......
-
I shoot Martin so I voted for them.
-
The new bowtech is a center pivot bow with the speed of the destroyer. The old center pivots were the quietest compounds made with literally no shock or recoil, but they were reletively slow by todays standards. This new bow gives you all the goodies from the old center pivots, but with the speed everyone wants. I wont be buying one though because I love my destroyer340, and the differences arent enough to make me want to "upgrade". I am sure that it is an awesome bow for someone in the market though! :IBCOOL:
-
Thanks Jollymon. That's what I wanted to hear!
-
Mtnmuley, sounds like your questions got answered. I haven't seen this bow yet but from the reports I have read from those that have shot it, is it is very quiet and no hand shock and smooth. Looking forward to shooting it. Going to head up to XXX when they get them in and I have time.
