I went out this morning with the plan of hunting in the Wynoochie GMU for some elk since its open for cows there but after seeing nothing but brush-pickers everywhere I went and no new sign anywhere I figured I would go try for a deer since the weather was perfect today (windy and rainy). Not too much of a story but I was on my way to a nice clearcut and this doe hopped across the road in front of me. I snuck up and ended up getting a broadside shot from about 5 yards! She went about 80 yards and piled up.
Crappy thing is I was hunting one clearcut for deer this morning and ended up within about 20 yards of a herd of elk with two 4-points in it and that was in the Copalis GMU which you cant hunt for elk in the late. :bash:
Looking forward to some backstraps tomorrow night!
Sorry the pics arent a good quality, my dad loaned out his camera and all I had to take pics with was my video camera. :bash:

Bummer about the elk, but meat it meat.

Yeah, really sucks about the elk. Doesnt really make much sense why Copalis is closed in late season and every other gmu around it is open. Seems to me there is far more elk there than in the other GMUs. I could be wrong though I guess.
