This is my first elk. Knocked him down opening morning about 15 minutes after daylight. It was a great time!

Nice job!
-
Buck and a bull in Idaho congrats
-
Wow, that spike has a bigger frame than some of our westside raghorns. Nice!
-
Very Nice!

Congrats!!

Congrats.... :brew:

Way to go.

Typical youngster - want to get in there and hurry up and get it done. No romance, no wineing and dining -no nothing. Just a 15 minute hunt how satisfying can that be. Oh well as you get older you will learn to take your time and make it last a little longer....
No really - we call that a Trophy Spike in our elk camp. Congrats
-
congrats on your first elk!!!

congrats. :IBCOOL:

If your trying to funny your not. I'm a hard working, broke college kid who can't afford to "make it last longer". Plus this was my first elk. I wasn't about to pass up any legal bull especially with having hunted hard the last two years and getting skunked. I am very proud of this animal. I had a great time and it was very satisfying to me so next time just keep your comments to yourself.

I think he was refering to the Spike Only rules that cover a large portion of Eastern Washington.
"No really - we call that a Trophy Spike in our elk camp. Congrats"
I think that the rest was sarcasm.
-
Congrats! got him before the wolves did!
-
Good bull jammer
-
Congrats on a great first bull Jammer, that will be good eating.
Also, I think DeerThug was being sarcastic and not trying to rip on you.
-
Nice first bull, congrat's.
-
Hey I did not mean to offend you - sorry if I did so. Good natured ribbing at your youthful exuberance yes - offending no.
And the comment about Trophy Spike - that is what we call a bull like yours. There are spikes and then there are Trophy spikes. Most spikes have 6 to 10 inch horns the size of a carrot and there is great excitment when one goes down. A trophy spike is a nice spike like you got - maybe even a two year old bull. When one of these goes down everyone from all of the other camps come to see - like you had shot a 6x6. In 15 years of elk hunting where I do I have seen only 3 taken. Remember we can only shoot spikes in eastern WA.
Again sorry if you took my comments as not intended.

@ Deerthug. Ok thx man. I took your comments the wrong way. I just thought you were rippin on me. Thx for the follow up reply

Nice bull! now go make some sausage and share it with your friends at school ;)
-
That is a big body on that bull! Congrats on your first elk! My first and only was a spike too! You would think I killed a 7x7 as excited as I am over that spike bull and I killed him in 2006! Once again, congrats, no better feeling that to harvest your first bull!

Appreciate all the posts! Thanks guys

Good for you! Any elk is a trophy no matter how long the hunt. When you hunt here during the general season, you shoot the first legal elk you see unless you have a special tag that dictates otherwise. Awesome!!

Way to go Jammer, nice whitetail buck you got too. I was hoping Josh would have got a deer, but it sounds like he burnt some powder. Sounds like a great season! Ryan Hartley
