I just started getting pics of this little guy on camera. What do you think caused his antlers to grow like this. He doesn't seem to be injured. Genetics? In-breading? Kind of goofy.
-
That's definitely a unique rack....
-
We saw one in Foster Creek that had a small fork with no eye guard on the left, and on the right were 2 spikes. 2 separate antler pieces growing from the skull. Wish I would have gotten a pic.

Here I thought this thread was about something completely different. :chuckle: :chuckle:

thats a sweeet rack! im a sucker for non typicals and that would be a beautiful europeanmount
-
My buddy got a deer a few years back in Enumclaw that had a rack like that. Not sure why they would grow like that though?
-
It would be nice to see him in a few years with a giant non typical rack.

My thoughts exactly. 4 more years on him, that's what he needs.
-
What have you been feeding him?????
-
:dunno: Maybe he damaged them while in Velvet :dunno: Friggen cool though.
-
1 messed up rack.... We saw one in the Entiat this year that was a 2x3 One antler was normal and the other dropped down in front of his snout and up and over to the other side. Neat looking buck. May have broke it in the velvet. :dunno:
-
Alright, so if I get a shot on him, let him go or take him? I have permission to hunt on this property now, and should be able to hunt there in following years, but you never know. I thought the same about my spot last year until the lady up and moved and the new owner's said No Way. So take him or let him go?
-
now thats what we call "trash"... love a buck with some trash
-
It looks like he has bed head...at least that's what my hair looks like when I wake up with a hangover.
-
That is a very unique looking set of horns there... Take him while you can... :hunter:
-
I say take him-I know I would ;)

thought the same thing huntbear ;)
-
special buck - let him grow! I'd eat my tag before tagging that buck but that's just me. I'd want to see what he does in a year or two!..or four.
-
Just do what you feel you want to do when the opportunity presents its self. No shame eather way! Cool little buck!
-
Looks like he ran into the side of a truck while in velvet. I'd let him go if it is private property.
-
Looks like he has been chasing parked cars.
-
I don't think he is going to give me the chance to decide anyway. I've got 2 nice 3x4's also coming in and would much rather take one of them but they're aren't giving me chance either. We'll see! Next weekend will be the start of "if it's brown, it's down!" No deer will be safe! :chuckle:
-
Nasty in a bad way. Nothing good about that gross thang.
-
I thought I was gonna see Tara Reid in this thread. :chuckle:

Hey! She's a nice lady! :chuckle:

Could be genetics, could be an injury (but he doesn't look injured). Testicle injuries will cause antlers to grow like that (cactus bucks), but most of the time they don't shed their velvet when that happens. My guess is he's just got screwy chromosomes... :dunno:
-
He just damaged them in velvet. Judging from the pedicles, he should be normal next year.
-
Better take him out of the gene pool!
-
Very intresting, he could be a mega freak, when he gets older :chuckle:
