Title: Swakane canyon
Post by: perezz21 on December 11, 2010, 06:13:53 PM
I've done some hunting/hiking in the hills just off of swakane canyon rd but never in the winter. Obviously the road is covered in snow right now but does anyone know how accessible the road is? I don't really wanna find myself on the wrong side of those steep hills next to the road...

Swakane canyon rd. isn't really to bad. doesn't have the steep crazy hills on the side of the road like up on top. Most of it is steep up hills on each side of the main road up there. I have seen pheasants in there. But never hunted it for birds.

take a dog with you if you do hunt it, the main road around the bottom isnt all that bad.  i heard a rumor that the state will not be releasing any birds in swakane this year, so any pheseants in there are left overs from last year.

i hunted it last fall '09 didnt have any luck but the guy working the same fields that i did had a dog and got 2 or 3
