I want to say thanks to everyone for all the great info they share on this site, and to those who replied to my new bowhunter post the other day. You encouraged me to be patient and persistant. I happy to report I tagged my first ever deer yesterday. Yes I know at 35 I got a late start(its my second season), and even though its just a doe I consider it a trophy using my bow.

Wheres the pics and story :dunno:

I say any deer with a bow is a trophy!
congrats. Never too late to teach an old dog (35) new tricks. I consider you a pup.

Congrats! would love a story and a pic or 2 :chuckle: That's also part of what makes this great site, so great!

Forgot about that I'm still new to this. I can't seem to get the pics to post from my phone, will try tomorrow at work from my computer. The story however goes a lottle like this. I was sitting in my blind on a piece of private land I just got access to 2 days prior. Around 3:15 a group of turkeys(all toms)came to within 20 yrds of my blind, of course with a tag in my pocket for them I started off taking one of them(forgot that part earlier). About 45 mins. later the does started to come in. I had one walk to about 33 yards, I took a shot and wiffed. About 10 mins. after that another doe walked to about the same spot the turkey was I let a pointy stick fly and whack. She ran about 100 yards and just stood there. Thats when my idiot hunting partner who I had just sent a text to telling him I hit her decided to get out of his blind and take a look hoping to see her go down. Instead he spooked her and we both watched her run off into the tree line. At this point he's lucky I didn't shoot him I was so mad. We started to follow the blood trail when my gut told to back out and come back in the morning. The next morning after about an hour and a half my buddies and I finally found her, she was about 1/2 mile away. I'm glad we backed out and didn't push to the next county, unfortunately wasn't the best shot. I don't know if she jumped the string or maybe I was a bit nervous ;)

Nice work

Congrats on your deer and way to stick with it
-
Very nice! Great job.

Congrats! thanks for sharing :IBCOOL:

Nice job! Nothing wrong with a doe. Better eating in my book. You have plenty of years to find a set of horns if you want them. That rush will never get old, and it will always be there. Enjoy, and good eating! :brew:

I would rather have a doe every day of the week and twice on Thursdays. If I have the choice I always take the doe.
Good job.

Congrats! Good job. Pictures always help tell the story. Gotta love the big smile that taking a animal with a bow makes! :)

Great job and great doe! Hopefully you're hooked now! Congrats!
